Part of her face was crushed, leaving one eyeball hanging down onto the cheek. Her clothes were tattered and bloody. She cried out in pain again and Adiel threw up.

"Why am I alive? Why am I here?"

La Diablesse. The Obeah Man. The Buck. Douens.

Trinidad, like the rest of the Caribbean, is steeped in folklore and superstition. In this collection of chilling short stories, follow these ordinary people who have their lives irrevocably changed by coming face-to-face with different creatures of the dark.

Meet a man who has been seduced by a pretty young girl, leaving his girlfriend at home, an old man wistfully telling the story of his lost wife and son, a young man who got more than he bargained for when he made his two wishes ... and more!
