Why is there not an option to rate this book 6 stars? BECAUSE FIVE IS NOT ENOUGH. I love this series so much, I can't even put it into words. I just want to read the books over and over again. This series will always be one of my favorites. Ramey does an amazingly satisfying job by making her own story but including classic fairytales and placing them together like a puzzle.

I really like Peter and Kit's relationship. It's a very slow burn romance. It does a great job depicting how hard relationships can be sometimes, as well as correctly using human behavior and expressing how people's minds work in both Peter and Kit's characters and personalities. I love reading in Peter's point of view because of this, and because of how different his personality is from other characters.

All the characters are so likable and unique, which is where I'm going to throw my tantrum... Zig DID NOT deserve that ending. Why couldn't it have been someone else that I didn't care about? No. Of course, it had to be one of my favorite Lost Boys. Who's gonna tell the campfire stories? Who's going to intervene with sassy but adorable remarks?! Unacceptable.

To be honest, I'm kind of mad at the ending, though. I'm very excited about the third and last book and will buy it as soon as it's out, but you mean to tell me Kit is going to be stupid enough to be MANIPULATED by Alice? I mean come on, Peter literally TOLD her that Alice WANTS HER to go through the mirror! Gosh, why do characters have to be dumb? This is just going to put another wedge between Peter and Kit when something goes wrong cause she didn't listen!!!! There were actually quite a few typos in the book as well but I'm not gonna let something as stupid as that affect my love for it.

Pg 96
"Another man approaches used from behind Amaro, his height is similar to Knave's, and his muscles are as big as Sid's and Tip's heads, his voice is so deep, it sounds like he's trapped within the depths of a cavern.
"Peter Pan," he says, casting his eyes down on me. "I heard you're not too fond of pirates."
"Ulrik," Amaro warns, "these are Klaus's guests."
"Aw, and I was hoping I could keep that secret," I say sarcastically, both of us ignoring Amaro."

Peter's sass is my favorite thing about this series😂

Pg 97
"And if I win?" I ask, my curiosity getting the better of me.
"Peter," Kit scolds, "you can't be serious."
"I turn to her. "You dragged me on this ship. At least let me have a little fun while I'm here."

Of course, Peter would see a giant pirate challenging him to a fight as fun😂

Pg 143
"I shrug my shoulders. " If you use magic against me, it only proves that you are the coward I accused you of being. If you fight me with your weapon, we both know I'm far more skilled than you. You won't last five minutes. I've already won in both scenarios. Whether it be by actions or words is your choice."
Klaus roars as he lunges at me and his sword swings down toward my head. It's a classic move spurred by anger. I draw my dagger and instead of blocking the blow, I sweep out of the way and slide the edge of my blade over his knuckles. Blood covers his fingers and slithers across his hand. He drops his weapon, hissing in pain, and it clatters onto the floor.
Part of me is disappointed. I was hoping for a challenging fight. But I was right. Klaus relies too heavily on his magic, and he's too angry right now to think through his movements."

Pg 160
"When I pull away from Knox, I notice he has the shadow of a black eye forming on the right side of his face. Each of them looks like they have just emerged from a brawl. Jules has a yellow bruise on the curve of his jaw, blood is dried under Slightly's left nostril, and Zig has a nasty cut on his lower lip.
I lightly poke at Knox's face. "What happened to you?"
"I won a fight, that's what happened."

😂😂😂😂

Pg 162
"I can feel the creases on my forehead." That makes no sense, Knox."
He scoffs. "Well, obviously it does, or else we wouldn't be here. And since when does magic make sense. You can make fire erupt from your hands but can't conjure me a simple party cake from thin air? How does that make sense?"
"I can't conjure baked goods," I remind him for what seems the hundred time."

YESS😂😭

Pg 164
"How do you know he worked in her garden?" asked Peter
"Tiger Lily mentioned once that there used to be a man living in her mother's garden. Who else would be mad enough to do that?"
"Knox," Peter says proudly, while placing his hand on the boy's shoulder, "you're a genius."
The boy grins proudly. "I have my moments."

I love the boys so much😭💕

"Why are you telling me this?" I ask.
She leans in like she is about to tell me a secret. "I want you to know how heartbreaking it is when you are in love with someone who is incapable of returning the emotion. 0eter did no wrong, and I fell in love with the wrong person."
"Wendy… I'm sorry but I still don't understand."
"Slightly told me about Nibs."

IS WENDY INSINUATING WHAT I THINK SHE IS!?!?

Pg 196
"Stop her."
"How?"
I want him to tell me how in every detail because I'm not sure how to do it myself. I know our goal is to take down Alice, but I have not figured out how to do it yet. I'm not even sure where to start.
"However you must. I can't bear it anymore. She's not Alice anymore."
The ache in my chest for him heaves. He said it out loud. To me."

🥺🥺🥺Poor Hatter

Pg 230
"I scoff, and another sob spills out of me with it. I hate that my face is drenched in tears caused by him. I have handled my emotions well since we arrived, throughout everything I have managed to keep them in check, but as soon as it comes to Peter, I unravel like a loose ball of yarn. It hurts. And I hate that it hurts."

Ooof truth. I'm the same way with my boyfriend.

Pg 281
"You have enchanted fairy dust, too?" Peter asks, stepping forward and picking up the jar. The dust glows from his touch. "Is there anyone who doesn't have fairy dust?"

Peter's such a control freak😂😂😂

Pg 284
"Hook was not particularly thrilled to have blood staining his deck. No matter how many times there had been bloodshed on his ship before, the fact that it was a Lost Boys' blood made it unacceptable. Nibs paid for it with a kick to the gut. Even though he had proved his loyalty to Alice, the pirate still saw him as a Lost Boy. The captain made sure to remind him of it whenever he could."

I seriously don't understand why people that become betrayers are hurt or shocked when the VILLAIN is mean. Like… um, they're the bad guy?

Pg 332
At that moment, Jules turns, and I catch a gleam from his waistband. My heart jumps into my throat, and I lower my voice into a harsh whisper, catching everyone's attention.
"Jules, please tell me that is not a knife tucked into your jeans."
His hand protectively covers the place where his blade is hidden. "You didn't expect me to come out here unarmed when we're going on a Ghost Tour, did you?"
I feel like my brain might explode. I want to grab him by the shoulders and shake him. "There are no ghosts!" I huff. "You better not pull that out. You should have left it at the apartment. No one else came with a weapon."
Jules nods to Peter. "Pan did."
Peter's eyes narrow. "Oh, wow, thanks Jules. True loyalty, huh? "
I turn to Peter and cross my arms. "Did you really bring your dagger?" Instead of replying, he lifts the tail of his shirt to reveal his dagger tucked into his jeans. I yank his shirt down before anyone else can see the weapon.
"Oh, so they can bring their weapons but I can't bring my club?" Slightly asks.
"I left my weapons at home," Knox brags. "I'm not afraid of ghosts."

😂😂😂😂😂

The Antheia Garden scene😭❤

Pg 340
"Slightly slides two more cups of ice cream in our direction. I take a bite.
" Butterscotch?" I ask.
Knox nods. "It was the flavor of the night. Thirty percent off." His eyebrows knit together as he states at his treat. "Whatever that means."
"It was the first thing the lady said to us, and we just said yes," Slightly explains before flipping the spoon in his mouth."

This series would be nothing without the Lost Boys

Okay I'm officially obsessed with this series!! It's one that's so all-engrossing and hard to put down. I absolutely loved how this book expanded on the world and how naturally Kit and Peter's character journeys and relationship arc progressed. This book is dressing up for a masquerade ball and journeys on pirate ships and fairytale references and even more Lost Boys found family content and it's just everything and more! Also, I'm so intrigued by everything we've learned about the Starling brothers and apparently the author is writing a prequel about them and I'm SO SAT.

I'm having more fun reading this series than I have had reading anything in a long time. I feel like I'm truly escaping into it, rather than waiting for it to be over (which is how I've felt about a lot of books I've read recently). Sitting at 4.5 stars for now.

This is the second time through I’m reading this book! I desperately love the story and can’t wait for the final book to come out. Kit’s progression with her magic and her amazing yet terrifying signature spell. The details about the characters, kingdoms, ships are all so vivid. It’s easy to picture everything in my mind. Even if this book didn’t have romance it would still be amazing. The fact that it does makes it all the better. Simply love it

This is book number 2 in the 3 book series and it was absolutely fantastic!
They find themselves in a different realm, Kit starts to find out who she is, friends become enemies, more fairytale characters come to life, there is a SLOW BURN romance happening, and of course unexpected heart break.
Im so excited the last book comes out soon because I can’t wait to read it!

Love this series!! I would have given it 5 stars, but the author killed off a character, and it broke my heart. 😭
I love how Jessi changes the POV from Kit to Peter to occasionally Alice. It's interesting to see how each character is experiencing the story.
And you can't help falling in love with each character (villains too!).
