They're alone. They're lost. They're trapped. And that's the good news...
Dead bodies everywhere. Absolutely everywhere.
Guerra's first mission as head diplomat for the United Galaxy isn't going well. They're a couple of crew members down, and The ARK—the ship they've been sent to make contact with—is overrun with undead creatures.
Relying on pure will, the group treks through the ship to find a way out. If they can just find the communications outpost, they'll be golden.
Only, the thing they're most afraid of—the thing waiting on them—seems to bet getting closer.
The question is, will they even survive long enough to see it?
This sci-horror story combines the science fiction of Alien with the horror of Event Horizon.
I'm pretty sure JJ Abrams had a hand in writing this book. More questions than answers. Coulson is a completely unlikable character that I was actively rooting against throughout the entire novel. The last chapter or two are just sequel bait for the third book. Sahana gets some more time in the spotlight, displaying new powers, but she dies before anything gets answered, so it's a huge waste. Katrina's condition worsens until the end and seems to have endless ammo like a video game cheat code. Guerra starts to daydream as soon as every fights starts, putting him in danger constantly. I understand he's not a soldier and wildly out of his depths, but this is getting ridiculous. I want to like this book, I really do. But Bioshock, Resident Evil, and Event Horizon all did this better
Still pretty good, started to veer into a little bit of a lazy writing occasionally as far as explaining what was going on/ characters getting out of predicaments. Overall story and world building were still strong.
