Abandoned at 35% 2 and 1/2 stars

Where Ration was mainly an idea-driven story, this book has transitioned to being mainly character-driven. Too many characters? I think so. Like being in a car, when you have too many characters driving it, you only go one of two ways: you go nowhere, or you crash. I felt as if we were going nowhere.

I'm happy to say, Christina has continued to do a fantastic job of editing. Kudos to her. Her imagination hasn't waned either. It appears that the magical resource centre that is the setting for this story is where the cannibalism starts. The scene-building is done well with graphic descriptions of a world ravaged by global warming (to the extreme). That all of Earth's species are extinct, except for us and algae, is still just too much for me to swallow. I'm having trouble dealing with many other of the the author's concepts. One was that, half of the Resource Centre is abandoned. Isn't space at a premium?

I'd love to give this book more stars, but I can't. It just doesn't appeal to me. I found myself not caring much for any of the characters. This is not a reflection on the author's ability. She has the chops to churn out a story that DOES appeal to me, and many more readers. She just needs to put Ration to bed and write something else - with dinosaurs in it...or dragons...but not vampires, zombies or politics. Maybe I'm just too old for Y.A. books...sigh.

Another excellent read!

I can't wait for the next book! The characters are rich and very likeable, the story is fresh and extremely well written. No misspellings or mid uses of word. Very easy to get lost in their world. I can't say enough about this series. Perfect!

This book had me hanging onto every word! I can't wait to see how the story continues! 5 STARS from me! The characters are rich and complex and their perspectives explain details that are soooo important to the story. The first chapter explains a little of why the world is so dead and the rest of the story continues painting a picture of how the resource center is capable of doing what they do. Everything covered in this book made perfect sense by the time I finished, except for the part where I need more! This one is even more exciting and emotionally charged than the first book, I can't wait for book three!!!

Couldn’t put it down!

The second book doesn’t disappoint! Young adult dystopia at its finest! This series will suck you in with vivid imagery and a great female lead. If you’re looking for your next series…it’s right here!
