War rages.

Two planets fight. Neither will back down. Earth, the center of a galactic empire. Bahay, a rebellious world. Heroes and villains fight on both sides.

And die on both sides.

Maria, a young Bahayan, was once a humble rice farmer. Now the fate of Bahay rests on her shoulders. With her beauty and charm, she must seduce Earth’s top general. It’s the only way to save her planet.

Jon, an Earthling, fights in the jungles of Bahay. The blood flows. The bombs fall. As he kills, as he watches friends die, Jon fears for his sanity. He faces a terrible choice. Dare he help Maria? To end this war, would he betray his own people?

There are terrible dilemmas in war. There are sacrifices that break the heart. That shatter the soul. Jon and Maria can change the flow of history. They can save millions of lives. But the cost might be too great to bear.

I fell in love with all the characters! Well the good guys, that is. Poor Jon just keeps finding trouble. Maria, and her quest to end the war, pulls at my heart strings. Honestly, it's my first real sci-fi series and I love it. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Daniel Arenson is an amazing writer. The world building is perfect. It's easy to see the Bahay and all their people. Oh, and the people who no longer look like people. Of course I couldn't wait until I got home to start it, even if I was only an hour away.

Good reading

Enjoyed meeting with the characters who were individuals but fit together for the story line. Thanks for sharing this episode and I enjoyed reading this book. I would have liked a little more if they were still at the end.

Earthlings fight Bahayans. But why?

What did the poor, starving people of the Philippines do to the Earth that they must flee to another planet to escape, only to be attacked again? In the jungles of Bahay, from tiny island to tiny island, they were pursued and killed by the Army of Earth. What had they done to deserve a war declared on them but escape from the planet that starved and invaded their homeland? Jon Taylor and his best friend George didn't know why they were drafted and sent across the firmaments to fight against the poor Bahayans. They fought because to not fight was to die. The Bahayans fought because to not fight was to die. Now that we have that cleared up . . .
The author has used his skills as a master storyteller to bring us a tale of war and betrayal, death and bloodshed, a pursuit of life in the halls of death. His characters are painted with broad, masterful strokes bringing familiarity and love or hate, no middle ground. The storyline brings the pain of war to a bright focus, lighting the poor grunts who fight because they're told to, who empty their weapons so that they can be filled again by the arms dealers who sell them. Shoot more, bomb more, buy more. A cycle of death and greed paid for in the blood of the soldiers who fight without knowing why.

The characters are magnificent, the story is epic, the detail is painfully accurate. This 3rd book is a great read! I recommend you read it and wait breathlessly for the next part of the story.
