If Brenda Pearce knew she'd be chased by vampires on her husband's business trip to a British coastal resort, she might have chosen both safety and boredom and stayed home in the states instead of accompanying him. A chance meeting at the conference dinner lures her into an entangled web of deceit, cover-ups, revenge and the Trust ... and her adrenaline and excitement wouldn't have it any other way! Brenda's frustration becomes a living nightmare, she knows everything, but nobody believes her. Her parents murderer is still on the loose but how can she have revenge on him and how can a layperson convince the Trust about what she knows? To top it all off what do the legendary vampires, the strigoi and Upierczi who have joined forces have to do with it all, and can a safe house be the best place to abscond from them? They say when it comes to family blood is thicker than water .... what personal information and events does Brenda uncover that shocks her to the core? What family dynamics are affecting the newly recruited Trust operative Ian knight as he tries to protect Brenda? Just another bloody link from Catherine Jordan and her team operatives chain, this Pop Culture horror story is full of modern day revenge tainted with Romanian and Russian mythology. Revenge is sweet, or does it actually taste of blood?

Residing in Blackpool, England, I have written over 70 books. As a fervent collector of celebrity autographs, I also champion LGBTQ rights, a theme I often explore in my writing. My pen name pays homage to acting icons Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, whose work I admire; despite their roles in less acclaimed films, they consistently delivered exceptional performances. My interests span supernatural folklore and enigmatic mysteries, such as alien abductions and the Loch Ness Monster. I'm an enthusiast of series like Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which greatly inspire my work.

I made this mistake earlier, picking up a book from the middle of a series. I haven't learned yet. I've learned since reading it that the Trust Casefiles is a series of 8 books involving a team hunting modern day vampires. Jumping in a number 4 made no sense.

What I can say, is at the end of the book, there's a lot of bodies on the ground, vamps and civilians. There are heroes, villains and shape shifters. The cast aren't explained at the beginning of the book, you have to figure it out as you go. The writing is sparse, battle scenes again villains usually conclude with a killing stroke without much further description. Unsatisfying after you've followed a villain through a number of pages, then suddenly he's gone in a sentence.

I doubt I'll read the first three books to catch up with number four, but I could start with another series by Mr. Cushing. His style of action appeals to me

This book was provided by the author to Nerd Girl Official for an honest review.

The chaos that the Trust encounters is crazy. Ian is dealing with the loss of a friend from the previous story and is put in the middle of his sister's antics and killing spree. Cutter is dealing with a past that has come back to him but there is a twist. And now there is a herd of Strigoi that they are trying to contain as well. Alexandra is still gone and Vladek is still running things. I am still trying to figure out what his agenda is and if he is a good guy or not. This story has no lack of action and twists. A wild rollercoaster of a story. My only issue with the story (and this is the reason for 4 stars) is that the story is told from everyone's point of view. It can be difficult to switch from one story to the other and truly keep them straight. The author does well in giving you several stories in one and with enough of a cliffhanger at the end to keep you wanting more.
