They took my childhood. They took my country. But when then they tried to take my sister, it led to their downfall. You grow up fast when leading a rebellion. You learn who to trust - sometimes the hard way. You become hard because you have no other choice. Whatever it takes. That's what it's come down to, but it didn't start out this way. They've given us no options; no safe path to tread. They've imprisoned us. We've had to watch our friends die. But it ends now. We're no longer alone. One fight is over, but another has just begun. Not all of us will make it, but there's a weapon that is more dangerous than anything we've ever seen. We have our stop them from destroying everything we have and come back to help build everything we could hope for. A new world. This wasn't the life anybody imagined, and we're going to do something about it. This is the large print edition of Eve of Tomorrow, with a larger font / typeface for easier reading.
You know that feeling you get after you've ridden a particularly vigorous roller coaster five times in a row? That's how I felt after finishing Eve of Tomorrow.
This book, and indeed the entire Dawn of Rebellion series, was a non-stop thrill-ride, filled with action, drama, action, adventure, action, action, and more action. And at the center of it was Dawn and Gabby, two teenage sisters thrown headlong into a world of chaos, a world that they will ultimately reshape for the better, growing as characters, as sisters and as strong young women along the way.
It's truly the mark of a great writer when she makes you care deeply for her characters. Your heart soars at their triumph, melts at their declarations of love and friendship, and is crushed when they lose the fight or worse, their lives. There were so many rich, genuine characters in this trilogy that, sadly, did not see the ending. I know I will be thinking about this series long after I've hit the "Save" button on this review.
If you are reading this review, I will assume you've probably already read "Dawn of Rebellion" and "Day of Reckoning," and you simply want to know if the final chapter is as awesome as the other two books have been. Well, it is.
If you are reading this review and have not read any of the books in the series ... Start. Right. Now. You'll have a hard time putting it down, and you'll be emotionally spent afterwards, but you'll be glad you gave this amazing author and this phenomenal series a chance.
So much action. This book has so much action I was starting to feel exhausted for poor Dawn and her sister Gabby for what they were going through. (In a good way, I should add.)
I was glued to this, just as I was to the first two books in this series.
The main focus of the story is to prevent a biological weapon from being released, killing everyone in its way. But so many obstacles occur in Dawn and Gabby's way.
Dawn has grown significantly since the last book and has become brave, strong, and a really good role model. I love seeing characters develop and learn throughout their story.
Gabby is still Gabby, although there were moments where I could see her beginning to soften. Her surprise romance storyline may have been one of my favourite parts of the book.
I can't rave about this book enough. Michelle Lynn has definitely gained a lifelong fan from this series.

Title: Eve of Tomorrow Series: Dawn of Rebellion #3 Author: Michelle Lynn Overall Rating: 5 stars
The term, Saving the best for last, comes to mind with this book.
It picks up where the second leaves off and immediately, your heart in pounding with the action that consumes Gabby and Dawn's life as the try their best to protect their people from a bio-weapon that could destroy everything.
But the cost that this mission will amount to is great.
There is so much growth in the characters in this book. Especially in Dawn, I think. No longer did she seem timid in comparison to Gabby, she was strong and most definitely had her own personality throughout. I love when a book can give you two very strong main characters whom you love equally, and Michelle achieved this within this trilogy.
Now, I'm a lover of angst. And boy, this book did not let me down! I loved exploring the girl's relationship with their parents, especially their father. I really grew to have a soft spot for General Nolan throughout this book, despite everything, he loved his girls. And I loved that about him.
The ending had me in tears, legitimate tears as I've grown attached to this series over the past year. This book was such a perfect end to this trilogy and I can't wait for Ms. Lynn to publish more books in the future!
Wow what an ending to a phenomenal series! Eve of Tomorrow is a super action-packed end of the gut wrenching story of Dawn and Gabby, two sisters caught up in the middle of a rebellion and forced to become unlikely heroes. This last book had more of everything I've come to love from author Michelle Lynn. The story was non-stop and kept me at the edge of my seat, turning page after page and never wanting to put the book down. It really seemed like the sisters came full circle in their character development and had me right along for the ride. I won't give it away but the ending had me gasping for breath and muttering in disbelief. And I absolutely loved the Epilogue. This was an incredibly powerful series that is both inspiring and hopeful and yet heart-breaking at the same time. I highly recommend it!
Now let's get something out there. For me, dystopian novels meant George Orwell's Nineteen-Eighty-Four. There probably won't be a better novel released in that genre in my lifetime (or ever), and I was as surprised as anyone when I picked up a YA dystopian novel a few years ago, starring someone from District 12....
So with Michelle Lynn's series, it would be easy to be dismissive, to say 'this is a fluffy YA dystopian, no-one will care what happens.' Not true. And with each book, the story has evolved into something else entirely. Each book has had its own distinct theme, cleverly intertwining the key characters into those events.
The chapter focus where each character 'talks' is interesting and I never once felt lost, even with so much happening.
However, as it is the third and final book in the series, things need to be wrapped up. I wasn't expecting half the things that happened, to happen. The cover gives you the feeling this is for YA - but there is some truly jarring stuff in here, quite violent in parts that churned my stomach (and I write horror!)
Put simply, this is the best YA dystopian series I have started and finished since THG (you know what I am on about). It's not fair to compare it to that behemoth, merely saying that the Dawn of Rebellion series is truly remarkable storytelling and stands on its own.
As mentioned in my their reviews, Dawn and Gabby, the sisters, are not exactly two sides of the same coin. They have their own ideas and ways about things. Each character is well drawn, secondary characters like Lee, Drew and Shay play magnificent supporting roles.
I haven't read three books by a new author this quickly in years.
I just like the author's writing style, coupled with her engaging, thrilling storytelling. Give this a try, maybe you will too.
It took me a lot longer to read this than I wanted. I would happily have read this in one day, it was that good!
This one didn't have a cliffhanger ending which I'm grateful for and Michelle Lynn did a great job of finishing this book. I have read so many books where the minor characters are forgotten about in the conclusion of the story, but in Eve of Tomorrow, we get to learn what happened to them all... If they survived 'til the end, that is!
War is evil. There is no other way to put it and although I may not be happy with some of the deaths in this book (don't worry, I won't give anything away!) but that's the truth of war. Good people die and heroes are created in the aftermath.
Both of the deaths that occurred in the final chapters of this book had me in tears. One, I was kind of expecting, the other almost broke me. I could have done without the POV of the last minutes of this person's life!
The suspense that was built up in this book was incredible, as Gabby, Dawn and their friends go on a desperate mission to find a biological weapon and stop it from being used. At one point, I wasn't sure they were going to make it in time.
If you haven't started this series yet, then I seriously advise that you do now! You'll fall in love with the characters and I guarantee you won't be able to put it down!
Just finished Eve of Tomorrow, book 3 of the Dawn Of Rebellion Trilogy. Man, what an adventure! The story of the two sisters, Dawn and Gabby, pick up right where the second book leaves off and it is just as spellbinding as the first two. They are no longer the innocent, naïve teenagers we meet in book one however. They are now bad ass rebel soldiers on a mission to stop a terrible weapon from wiping out what is left of humanity. Michelle Lynn creates her characters with such depth and range of emotion, you cannot help but fall in love with each and every one. Her writing and plot flows effortlessly and draws you in to her world of rebels, traitors and feuding Mexican cartels. I mean what else can you ask for in a book? This book was a perfect, but heart wrenching ending to the trilogy. Thank you Michelle Lynn for taking me on this amazing ride. Your characters will not be quickly forgotten. Five out of five shiny stars!
Wow. What a sequel. There was so much going on in this book, I'm not even sure where to begin. It was action packed, it was heartbreaking, and it was suspenseful.
The transition into Eve of Tomorrow was flawless, and once again, I was pulled into the story from the beginning.
What I loved about this series was how much the characters grew. And not just the sisters, but all of them. They suffered so much and to see how they persevered through each tribulation was exciting to read.
But then the dose of reality settled in and had me reduced to tears. The Rebels were in a war, and the sisters had a very important task to complete. But before they could complete that task, there were obstacles to overcome.
This was a great series. I do look forward to reading this author's future work.
I feel 'save the best for last' really fits this trilogy. Just like the first two books the action amazed me, to be honest I began to feel quite exhausted keeping up, which is a good thing.
There are always so many twists and turns, unlike most stories, you really don't know what's going to happen next. Then, of course, the family dynamic and all the character development which has continued throughout the book makes everything all the more believable.
I'm trying to be as conserved as I can here, be ause once I start I'll end up unintentionally giving spoilers. So, in brief, definitely the best book of the series, a read I'd recommend to a lot of people, Michelle Lynn really has outdone herself.
OMG! The author has saved the best for last with this third and final book in the Dawn of Rebellion series.
I found all three books easy to read with each chapter titled with the name of the character who is telling the story. Drew was my favorite but I think Lee has now surpassed him. Ms Lynn has done a wonderful job of bringing these young brave characters to life.
So much happens in this one. It carried me along throughout the emotional ride and I’m not ashamed to admit it had me in tears near the end. Well done Ms Lynn, your YA dystopian series had me gripped from the first chapter of book 1.
Eve of Tomorrow is the third and last book in the Dawn of Rebellion series. And what a cracking end to the series it is. Quite a number of surprises and I dare you not to shed a tear. What I liked most about the series is seeing the two girls; Dawn and Gabby grow from London street urgings into not to be messed with strong woman, without losing their core characters. Gabby remains mouthy and defiant, while Dawn keeps her softer caring side. Book 2 was rather dark and serious, and while things are grim in the colonies we see a more hopeful tone and also some romance. One character that comes to the fore in this book is Lee and I really felt for the tall silent American as he had the misfortune to fall in love. The plot is exciting and fast moving as the girls race against time to stop a dangerous weapon that could spell the end of the colonies, being deployed. I’m sad that the series has ended but it has been a great read and even though I would have liked a different ending, I can understand why the writer has reached this conclusion. Great stuff and look forwards to reading more from this writer in the future.
This is a strong finish to the dystopian trilogy. More and more, this writer shows us just how awesome she will become.
The rebels have won their war against the Texans, but the sisters remain distant. Both soldiers in the rebel army, Gabby is willing to follow orders no matter how ruthless, while Dawn is more interested in saving lives than taking them. Gabby’s relationship with Jeremy has suffered as well, while Dawn and Drew are finding a way to heal theirs after Drew’s traumatic imprisonment in Texas.
Gabby has gone to St. Louis on orders, but Dawn heads out against orders to help find the younger sister of her friend who has been abducted by the Freedom Fighters. The two head into the unknown and dangerous Wasteland determined to rescue her.
The rebels, under new leadership, prepare for the evacuation of England. They also face a continued threat from Mexico and the elimination of the slave camps in Floridland.
Will the Rebels ever have a peaceful life in the Colonies? Will the sisters find a way to heal the rift between them?
This has to have been the best series I've ever read. The power in the words were so emotional and I cried so much through it feeling what they were all going through. As with the other books each chapter is a different character, the main ones Gabby, Dawn, Drew and Lee are the main ones throughout the book and series, but you do get the view from others too which only adds to it. I never thought I would get drawn into a series as I was with this one. All along you are hoping that the good guys come through it all but along the way you see what can happen when people have power and take advantage of it becoming more like dictators. It's scary to think this could really happen and I think this is why this book holds so much power to it. You can see what happens and how people blindly follow without really thinking of consequences along the way. You see so much destruction and hopelessness but also so much hope. I couldn't stop reading this book it just pulled me to it and before I knew it the day had passed but I had to finish it as I had to know what happened. I'd love to tell you what happens as I was in tears through so much of it with the harsh reality of war, spies and the people that are scared to change it all. It's definitely a series that I will keep in my collection to re read at a later date. I feel drained from reading it but in a good way. Michelle writes it with so much emotion and love in every word. A very emotionally charged book that I would recommend to anyone as I think it makes you realise how easy it would be for it to actually happen which is very scary! I loved it and Michelle did a brilliant job of writing it.
Eve of Tomorrow is by Michelle Lynn. It is book three of her series. It is a science fiction which is set in the future. The setting is what used to be the United States. It is now divided into sections controlled by various groups. The characters are realistic and you get attached to them. The plot is one which unfortunately could be plausible in the future, although I certainly hope it will never be. The book is gripping and I found I could not put it down. Luckily it reads quickly so it didn’t take me too long. I loved the book. I have been waiting for this book to come out after having read the others. Dawn, Corey, and Ryan are on a mission in the Wastelands. They are on a mission to find Ryan’s little sister, Emily. Why they would take a little girl is something they would like an answer to; but mainly they just want to find her. The Wastelands are devoid of everything. Other sections wonder how anyone could survive in there but few have ever ventured there to find out and the few who have had never returned. Dawn goes because she feels it is her fault Emily was taken. She had told Emily to stay outside the walls while she went inside to help. Ryan blames Dawn for her having been taken. At the same time, he admires Dawn for her strength and bravery. They have to be careful not to get caught while they search. What they find is a society which is thriving and growing. The inhabitants were sent here by General Nolan, Dawn’s father, to set up a society and a place for others to come. The town is large but only half full. The other part is waiting for people to come. To keep this society a secret, they burn down the areas around the town and that is the Wastelands. It keeps people out. They find Emily but when it comes time for them to return to General Nolan, she refuses to leave. She is happy and safe here. Reluctantly, Ryan leaves with Dawn and they make their way back to headquarters. Meanwhile things are heating up. Gabby makes a mistake and helps Allison burn down the labs in Vicksburg. She thinks they are still a place of torture; but they are holding sick people, as she was told, and the labs are making vaccines for various contagious diseases and an antidote to a biological weapon that had been developed. Gabby sets out to find the Reverend to find out where he has some of the biological weapon virus, get it back, and see what he plans to do with it. Dawn, Gabby, Jeremy, Lee, Adrian, Ryan, and Drew are pulled in all different directions in an attempt to help find some peaceful solution to the constant wars. Gabby and Dawn have to come to some conclusion of their feelings for their parents who had abandoned them in England. Both parents are involved in the Rebel movement; but where General Nolan has lapses where he shows he loves his girls, their mother remains cold and remote. The group sets out on a mission to save their people. Will it work? Can they actually find peace? Will they all survive? Will Gabby and Dawn get back to their close sisterly attachment? Who can they trust? This is an excellent book and well written. I did hit a spot where Gabby and Dawn were in the same place and things were really happening fast and I got confused as to which one was doing what. I had to reread the section to get back on track. Otherwise, it was well written.
“Eve of Tomorrow” is a sobering (and sometimes cruel) reminder that war can be just as devastating when fought by experienced, highly trained soldiers or a young, ragtag collection of freedom fighters.
When we first met the sister duo of Dawn and Gabby in book one “Dawn of Rebellion”, Dawn was a shy, insecure, but likable girl living under the large shadow that her popular, pretty sister casts upon her. For her part, Gabby was a mischievous, shallow, self-conceited girl that I honestly found hard to like at first.
By the end of their quest both girls have changed as much as one would expect, though, given all the trials and tribulations that they go through in their journey. Then again, after facing dangerous militias, drug cartels, having to rescue a young girl in a place called the Wastelands (from which no one is supposed to come back from), and more importantly, a weapon of mass destruction that could wipe out the world’s population if not stopped, it’d be impossible for anyone not to change.
Dawn, Gabby, Drew, Lee, Ryan, all characters major and minor, go through the inevitable growing pains and changes that inevitably come with the loss of innocence in a world that oft times is a violent, intense, painful reminder of how brutal and savage humankind can be.
Like its two predecessors, “Eve of Tomorrow” is a fast-paced, action-ride written in short chapters that keep the story rolling along seamlessly, despite being told from different characters’ points of view and sometimes, at very different places as well.
Expecting the death of some characters in the conclusion of a brutal conflict was inevitable. Like her protagonists’ progression from innocent, unsuspecting teens to full-grown women and battle-hardened rebellion fighters, author Michelle Lynn manages to do an excellent job at depicting some of these tragic moments, some of them in the first person, which makes them even more gut-wrenching, but one of my favorite moments in the book, no doubt.
The mission to rescue a girl called Emily from the deadly Wastelands had a rather surprising twist that was also one of my favorite passages in “Eve of Tomorrow”.
I wish this would’ve been a longer series. I realize this is praise for Michelle Lynn’s brilliant work more than an actual complaint, but I really would have liked to get a larger glimpse at the characters, the situations and the dystopian, dangerous world that she created in this trilogy.
I said it before and I’ll say it again: Although this is supposed to be the final act in a dystopian YA trilogy set in the not so distant future, like its two predecessors, the book is hard to categorize as such. In my humble opinion, a great tale of friendship, love, survival and hope starring younger characters thrown into some seriously dangerous and dramatic situations would be a more fitting description for Michelle Lynn’s outstanding trilogy.
'Eve of Tomorrow' is the final chapter in author Michelle Lynn's excellent 'Dawn of Rebellion' trilogy and, as she did in her first two books, she has crafted a wonderful novel that is so very much more than a simple dystopian adventure story. Writing in her trademark style of short, punchy chapters, Lynn skillfully uses her characters to examine just what it means to be truly human in the context of an exciting adventure novel that has enough great fight scenes to keep even the most jaded readers on the edge of their seats. Unlike the one-dimensional characters that you find in many adventure novels, however, Lynn's characters are extremely complex. They can be courageous at times, frightened nearly out of their wits at others. They can be loyal, loving and compassionate but just as easily be cruel or so pragmatic that they are almost robotic. In short, they are fully realized human beings who have been thrust into circumstances that are so extraordinary they must rely on not only their brains but also their bodies, emotions and instincts to survive for even one more day. The story revolves around two sisters: Gabby and Dawn. when we first meet them they are orphans in a London ruled by powerful oligarchs. Gabby, caught shoplifting, is sent to 'The Colonies,' a euphemism for a vast prison camp in what was once America. Dawn and Gabby's boyfriend Drew follow her and embark on a series of adventures after freeing her from prison. In this, the concluding book in the trilogy, they are racing against time to locate and then destroy a doomsday weapon that could spell the end of even the rudimentary civilizations that have taken root in America. Although Gabby and Dawn are the central characters, there are a host of other men and women that emerge throughout the trilogy. Some are good, some evil and some are simply trying to make it from one day to the next. All have their part to play and not all of them survive, which makes 'Eve of Tomorrow' especially poignant. Lynn's narrative is almost cinematic in style: It shifts the reader from place to place effortlessly, telling the story through the eyes of different characters who often have radically different points of view and motivations. Her ability to tell the story and invest the reader in her characters using very short chapters is truly remarkable and, for me, enhanced my enjoyment of all three books in the series. I highly recommend this book and, in fact, the entire trilogy. This is an excellent piece of storytelling from a writer I hope to hear a lot more from in the future.
I'm heart broken. This wonderful amazing trilogy has come to an end, and what an ending it is. Action, explosions, torture, love, conspiracy and friendship all aplenty to make this a truly fitting finale to this trilogy. Michelle has a real gift for character creation, she brings them to life in such an amazing way. I loved our little band of warriors and heroes, I cried when they fell, hurt when they suffered and rejoiced in their victories. Michelle has written a powerful dystopian trilogy and I can promise anyone who is a fan will be swept away by these books. Each book fulfills all expectations and more, I can honestly say that not one is worth less than the five star rating I gave them all! I literally cannot wait to find out what Ms Lynn has in store for us next.
Wow! I couldn't put this book down. I've been so excited to finally read the final installment of the Dawn of Rebellion series, Eve of Tomorrow, and I was not disappointed.
I really enjoyed watching Dawn grow into a strong, independent, young woman, while I felt Gabby softened throughout the book with the help of her new love interest, which was a welcome change from her harsh attitude in Book two.
Eve of Tomorrow is packed full of action which makes it hard to stop reading, and it was easy to get swept up into Dawn and Gabby's world. They go through hell in the final installment, and there are times I just wanted to reach out and give each of them a hug and tell them it was going to be okay.
I highly recommend you read the Dawn of Rebellion series!
