Pennitent has been taken over by the mysterious Quorum and their rule is complete. They have subjugated the population by fear and by the manipulation of rivalry between the four Astrolabe, Zenith, Horizon and Cirrus. By holding an annual Battle of the Bands, where each quadrant selects a rock group to represent them, they can channel the emotions of the people. The winners enjoy fabulous rewards whilst the least successful meet an unpleasant end. Insatt is the lead vocalist with one of the most enduring acts, The Saters, but being a rock star is not all it is made out to be. Walking away from fame and fortune is not as easy it as it seems, especially when a groupie has a desire to kill you. The fate of the seven worlds is in the hands of a small band of travellers, who seem ill-equipped for the task. Rival forces with other intentions gather to reclaim the Moonstone and the Galena crystal. Possession of the stones being the first step to dominating the seven worlds!Even death cannot bring relief when evil is abroad!

Rock God took an unexpected, but pleasant, turn in the series. Peter Calender and his group of comrades find themselves in a new world facing some interesting challenges. Demons posing as rock stars force their will over the world that appears powerless to oppose them. While a mysterious controller and Gorn impose their will against the rebellion. This well-written addition to the series introduces some interesting new characters, while continuing the story of the originals. I eagerly look forward to starting Hell fire (book 3 in the series) to see what is next for this group of heros.

AN EXCELLENT FOLLOW UP TO BOOK ONE. Having thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the series, Moonchild, I was keen to read book two, Rock God. It did not disappoint. With all the energy, action and imagination of the first book, this one kept the plot moving forward. The protagonist, Peter Calender, continues his quest to save the seven worlds in his universe. But first, the moondial must be repaired, and that is not an easy task. Peter faces many challenges along the way, accompanied by an eclectic groups of friends and frienemies some of whom have their own agenda!

Fun read

I'm enjoying this series. It could use a bit more editing, but that doesn't detract from the story. Curious to see where it all leads.
