Read this without having read the previous books in the series and didn't find that a problem, which I appreciate. Fairly much a standalone book. The stories were decent and entertaining, and the only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is that on a number of occasions it felt that characters changed their viewpoints way too fast, not to mention the OTT speedy romances!

Good colony story

Strong characters and good world building. I enjoyed the mix of alien and human interactions.
There are several subplots to keep the action moving along. As I am already a fan of colony stories this one fit my expectations well. Quite the enjoyable read.
