A CEO found dead in a Mount Etna crater. . . American CEO Randy Chen of a natural supplements company is found dead in the crater of Mount Etna, an apparent victim of a fall down the steep hillside of the crater. Italian authorities ruled his death as natural with no police investigation of the circumstances. Dr. Jill Quint, a forensic pathologist and private investigator, has been called to Sicily to perform an autopsy, which reveals something starkly different from law enforcement. The victim's family hires Jill, Angela, Jo, and Marie to find his killer. Soon they're on the trail of the mysterious product the CEO was pursuing in Sicily. Was it olive oil or a bee pollen product, or something else? Or was this mystery product even the cause of Randy's death? As Jill and the crew travel the ancient roads of Sicily, someone is watching them. Is it Randy's killer or someone else with a little too much curiosity about the Americans? Read book 9 in the Jill Quint series, SICILIAN MURDER.
Author’s Bio I have fourteen books published in the Jill Quint, MD murder mystery series. They are best described as soft-boiled mysteries.
The books are set in different locations in the United States and Europe. The lead protagonist is Jill Quint, a forensic pathologist. She worked for a state crime lab, but left as she became disenchanted with court appearances, paperwork, and politics. She operates a vineyard in the central valley of California producing Moscato wine.
Jill also works as a private consultant providing a second opinion on the cause of death for families not satisfied with what they are being told about their loved one's death. She had developed a lab that serves two purposes: she can analyze specimens from a crime scene and she can create organic solutions to pest control and fertilizer for her vines.
Jill is partnered in her adventures with her three best friends who live in another state. Each of those friends has unique skills that move a case forward to being solved.
I also have a second series featuring Damian Green, a loner who lives on an island in San Francisco Bay. He's a computer genius and inventor and his entire family were murdered seven years ago by a mistakenly released prisoner from Soledad Prison. Now he helps Natalie Severino, a retired police detective that solved his family's murders with cold cases. There are 5 books in this series.
I'm a book lover with mystery (mostly) and urban fantasy and romance (occasionally) being the only three genres I read.
Writing mysteries is an adventure - trying to plan for twists and plots to make the story richer. I can get engrossed researching a particular angle of each case. For example, in CASTLE KILLING set in Cardiff, Wales, I spent hours studying different angles of the castle to make sure I threw my victim out the right window. He needed to be four stories up to be dead rather than have multiple broken bones. Yes, I know it sounds like a gruesome question, but if I didn't ask it, one of my readers would.
I hope you will enjoy these stories!
I started a third series with Michelle Watson, a CIA operative with a teleportation skill. Imagine what a spy could do with that skill! There are 3 books in this series.
The story is, as usual, extraordinarily interesting. Although not fast paced and full of adventure, it is a boon to the brain. I learn something, as a matter of fact, many things, I did not know before, every time I read a book in this series and that increases my knowledge, medical and otherwise. And I love that. I enjoyed the story very much, and it would, ordinarily, rate 5 stars, but the total lack of proper proofreading precludes that. Some sentences do not even make sense and require the reader o transpose words and add words in order to make sense. This, of course, does not make for full enjoyment of the book. If the author does, in fact, employ a proofreader, that proofreader leaves much to be desired. In order to properly proofread, you must actually think about what you are reading. If you do not, so much will get by you. If you ask a typist to type a page or so, copying from another, and when they finish ask them what they actually typed, they will tell you that they do not know as all they did was copy words. The same thing is true with proofreading, you can read a book, or read a lot of words. As this author has a great imagination and has the ability to write a superior book, I would strongly suggest a change of proofreader.
Jill and her friends go to Sicily to investigate a murder. Marie's sister Brenda works for Randy her boss is murdered in Sicily. The police don't believe Jill when she says that he was murdered. Angela is already there for her god daughter's wedding. The Italian police don't believe her until her results are verified by the tests and a local professor. Another wonderful story.
I'm in awe with this book, the story line with the plant and country was epic. I had a hard time getting my house work done, then take a break and some more, I'm having trouble with of all the books, which one is my favorite. I am impressed with the in-depth knowledge, and story line. Great book 📚📚📚!
I have enjoyed reading this series; however, I must say this book must have been rushed into production. I was surprised at the number of typos and grammatical errors. Hopefully the next book will have time to be proofread.
Another good mystery. I hope all the places in the story were actually seen by the author. It sounds like a beautiful place but with a few dangerous men lurking around.
So happy to see a new Jill Quint book! Not only are the stories always interesting, but you learn a lot of fun facts as you read. Eagerly looking forward to the next.
I got through 3/4s of this and just had to quit. I kept falling asleep. I wanted to read a mystery, but half of this was about wine--tasting, labeling, planting, etc.
This is 2nd mob or gangster book, it was more enjoyable than the other one. I think that's the New Orleans death. This one had more action and the whole team.
This is a good book with lots of interesting info about Sicily, plant usage, and great team work. I have read other Dr. Quint books but this left me wanting more.
