Let's Celebrate!

Rate this book
We all like days to celebrate. But, why do we like them so much? Is it only the cake, the ice cream, or the presents? Or, is it a day to honor and celebrate something, a day to have fun, to be especially happy, and to share wishes like "Happy Birthday," "Happy Easter," "Happy Holidays," "Happy St. Patrick's Day?" If so, why not have a "Happy" day every day? For kids, this sets the imagination stirring. How about "Happy First Day of School," "Happy Clean My Room Day," "Happy Learn Something New Day," "Happy New Friend Day," Happy Old Friend Day?" Any excuse will do to start every day right by proclaiming it "Happy." All in rhyme with over 35 delightful illustrations.

For years I have wanted to do what I am doing now -- writing and illustrating my children's books. Electronic drawing pads and e-books have made it possible for me to create and publish my own books -- and do so in quantity. In the past, Harcourt Brace, Ten Speed Press, Thomas Nelson had only published a few.

The books were always squeezed in between art I needed to do to fill 26 Sally Huss Galleries (my degree was from USC in Fine Art); and licensing demands for clothing, greeting cards (American Greetings), purses, bibs, dinnerware, wallpaper; and the daily King Features Syndicated inspirational panel I do for newspapers called Happy Musings.

Through the years my art and writings have found their way into homes from Hollywood to The White House and perhaps even your house or your mother's.

Along with art, I have had a long history with tennis. In fact I was raised to be a champion (U.S. Junior and Wimbledon Champion, then a semi-finalist in the women's division at Wimbledonin singles and doubles). Later I became one of the top senior players in the country. This experience lead to my writing and illustrating a couple of books on the game -- EIGHT GOLDEN RULES FOR HOW TO PLAY YOUR BEST TENNIS (endorsed by Billie Jean King, Mary Carrillo, Dick Enberg, etc.) and LOVE LADIES LEAGUE TENNIS.

I mostly read the books of the French Philosopher Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov. For me, these present the clearest and most practical explanation of life and man's structure in it that I've come across. These light-filled pages send my heart soaring and give me food for my present work.

Presently I write, illustrate and paint in my Solana Beach, California studio where I live with my husband Marv. I also still play a bit of tennis and walk the beach daily.

This is a fun book about celebrating every day.

My baby girl liked this book enough to sit through the whole thing. That's saying a lot. Usually she will sit through part and get up and walk away while I try to read the rest to her. My daughter really loved the core jump over the moon too. I would recommend the books especially for older kids as there is usually a lesson in the story. I like those books that allow you to teach your child in a fun way.

These Huss books are hit and miss. This one wasn't as unwieldy long as some of them and didn't use too many big words as others have. The reading rhythm was off in a few places. The illustrations are okay.

What an idea-Of making almost everyday a special one!

I enjoyed this and thought it was a very cool idea especially for kids and those who may not otherwise not have anything else worth making their day special and giving them a very good excuse for putting on a grin. Beautiful illustrations and idea.
Therefore, I would like to give this five stars and recommend it for kids 2-8+! I received this ebook for free and in return, here is my honest review. Super job Sally! By Angela

Children love to celebrate birthdays; they can't wait until the next one comes around. For older adults, not so much. Huss continues to name some special holidays that groups of people celebrate such as Easter, Mother's Day, and St. Patrick's Day. But why not find a reason to make every day a special and Happy Day. Huss gives some suggestions like Happy Rainy Day or Happy First Day of School. Her lesson is that each of us can find a reason to make every day happy and special.

Recommended for preschoolers and primary grade children. This book is an excellent bedtime story or read aloud
