It evokes a sense of freedom and spaciousness, and it is defined by the human ability to move, by the spatial location of the body to objects. However, space is also a place where the shadow of reality dwells— the abstract perception of lived experience s. Space is filled with the unseen, like air and all that travels with it. To people living in the borderland desert, space is a place; it is home. Cracked Space s draws from spaces of memory and its vastness to reconstruct a compact and straightforward narrative of poetry, rooted in geography, social justice, displacement, migration, and love, that informs a life of living in physical and construct borders. Within this space, the poetic voice moves, locating the cracks from which these poems emerge.
