Somehow this cookbook looks very Scandinavian to me. I think if Ikea were to make a cookbook, it would look very much like this. But I did like the recipes, and the list of ingredients and instructions were both kept to a minimum. There was a full color picture of every recipe, which was quite nice.
However, because this is a British author, there were a few words I wasn't familiar with. But luckily Ms. Kenney was savvy enough to know that her readership is likely to include obtuse and blundering Americans.... like me. So she very helpfully included the American term wherever necessary.
Some of the recipes I'm most excited about are Jamaican Chicken with Rice and Peas, Teriyaki Chicken with Edamame Beans, Miso Pork with Spring Vegetables, Banana Chocolate and Peanut Butter Sundae (baked inside the banana peel for a few minutes so you can make as many or as few as you like! Magic!!), Boozy Bourbon Baked Apples with Maple Syrup and Sultanas (or Raisins), and Pineapple En Papillote (cooked in a bag) with Rum. Ummm, fruit and booze cooked together? Yes please!!!
