The book is a lovely fantasy that described four scientists from the psychochemical department of Hatvard Thes scientists produce a chemical change in an anti-depression effects that is associated with the chemical Serotonin. This change eliminated all the side-effects generally associated with anti-depressants drugs. This drug induces happiness, and wholesomeness in its users and becomes wide spread in the whole world. This spread leads to peace in the whole world. The drug is very successful in treating patients who suffer from psychiatric diseases All these diseases and the defects that cause them are also described in the novel. The novel also contains a slow and exciting unfolding of a love affair between the main scientist and his lovely female assistant.
