Tasked as an escort deep in enemy territory, Thebe is tense, ready for anything. Except Proteus. From the moment they caught each other's scent, they knew. Still, their courtship is slow, and secret. Their clans have been enemies the whole of their lives. They need time, and it would seem they have it. But, their long-awaited first kiss could ne their last. In the early light, they are attacked by those loyal to the feud, those close to them, and she is taken. Thebe soon discovers neither his flight, sight, nor cast will help him. They must be tracked by foot. The odds stack against him when she is taken underground in Zackanta territory, where he has no allies, save the few he brought with him, and a handful of Humans. In the depths of her dark prison, Proteus must fend off direct mental attacks from her captors, fear, and despair to hold on to sanity. To escape. Thebe must search a vast, hostile territory, battling fierce creatures, Humans, Dragons, and the Madness which threatens to pull him to a place from which there is no return. And both battle Time itself. The Brown Season is short in the North, and the White Season is harsh. If he can't find her before it sets in, she's as good as dead. If she can't escape, so is he.
