Princess Annalise is in danger, but she doesn’t realize how much. What starts off as a celebratory feast turns into an engagement party as Annalise's father, King Ebastalar of the Sacratus kingdom, promises her hand to the captain of his knights, Caballo. With her heart belonging to another, Annalise is determined to thwart the king’s plans. In the process, she stumbles upon a much larger plot designed by her father's enemy, the Tenebris, to remove her from the kingdom. She soon discovers Caballo’s traitorous ways, as he serves the Tenebris queen, Corryn. ​Ashley Hodges Bazer is the author of the epic sci-fi series, The Crown's Call, which explores the onset and aftermath of a religious holocaust in a space opera setting. She also dabbles in young adult fantasy, bringing chess pieces to life in Checkmate, mixing up fairy tales with fun twists in Once Upon a Heist, and traveling through time with Time Spinners. Her latest space opera series, Star Sailors, follows the adventures of Jameson Kendrick, commodore of a fleet of luxury space cruise ships. (Think Star Trek meets The Love Boat!)

She lives in Colorado with her husband and three children. After earning her bachelor’s degree in theatrical stage management from Arizona State University, she went on to work for Disneyland in that capacity.
