The heart-pounding adventures of Acid Vanilla continue in Sister Death. The latest standalone adventure in the addictive Acid Vanilla Series!
Received an ARC of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the fourth instalment in the fantastic Acid Vanilla series and once again it doesn’t disappoint. After their adventure on the island, Spook and Acid try to get back to some sort of normality, but Acid seems to have lost her way in life and spends most of her time drinking and bedding anyone that takes her fancy. This spiral of self destruction continues until The Dullahan once again enters Acids life and claims the favour that she owes him, persuading her to go on a simple rescue mission. But things never go to plan and Acid soon finds herself mixed up with Danny Flynn, The Dullahan’s charmer of a nephew, Luis Delgado,a shady art dealer and Magpie Stiletto, another of the names on her personal hit list. This series just keeps getting better and better with each new instalment as Acid fights not only the evil in man, but also the darkness within her that keeps dragging her down into its depths. Action packed from the very beginning, as we follow Acid on her trail of revenge, can’t wait for the next book.
Acid has been drinking a lot and not at her best when a old friend asks for her help getting his nephew who is in trouble in Spain. Acid does not want to but when he tells her who is after him she changed her it Magpie whose name is on one of the last 2 bullets she has for the revenge of her mother's death. Once in Spain she quickly finds Danny and tells him she has a new passport for him and Is getting him back to England. Things don't go yo plan as Danny will not leave until he steals a Faberge Egg. Magpie is on the them she is dressed as a nun and Acid I'd not sure they can outrun her. This is a great book with lots of action and well worth the read highly recommend this series Denise
Two bullets are still standing but Acid's mojo has gone. In Spain waits an Irish charmer and a 'nun' called Magpie. Can Acid pull herself together to get the revenge for her mother she so desperately seeks, while helping out a friend in need. This rollercoaster of a ride will leave you breathless.
This is book four of the Acid Vanilla series and sees former assassin Acid Vanilla wallowing in depression and using sex and alcohol to drown her sorrows and to try and forget the demons of her past. She had taken down her former employer’s whole company, Annihilation Pest Control, eliminating most of the other assassins responsible for her mother’s brutal death. Beowulf Caesar, the boss and Magpie Stiletto, another female assassin are the only ones she has left to track down and kill. But after she and her friend Spook, a former target who she refused to kill and then befriended, were duped, drugged and taken to a private island and left as prey for wealthy hunters, before managing to escape, has left her in a massive slump. Spook is about to call for an intervention after Acid hadn’t left her room, nor even showered for over a month, when someone from Acid’s past comes to call in a favour. This old acquaintance Jimmy O’Rourke, is known as The Dullahan, and he wants Acid to travel to Spain and save his nephew, Danny Flynn, an arts dealer for those who don’t care how their high end art comes from. It seems Danny stole something from someone he shouldn’t have and an assassin has been sent to take him out and get the owner, Luis Delgado, his property back. What Danny hadn’t realised, was that he had taken more than a valuable piece of artwork from Delgado, a local gangster into all sorts of nefarious crimes, to help pay off his debts back in the UK. The assassin sent to kill him is Magpie, who now calls herself Sister Death, one of the two people Acid still has on her kill list. Acid is reluctant to get back to work in the assassin business, having started to reassess her life and struggling to adjust to a normal life. Her mental health has gotten worse and she hasn’t been sober for quite some time! She does owe The Dullahan a favour and she needs to repay it, by doing as he asks. She believes it will be a simple job, meet up with Danny and get him back to the UK to his uncle. Shame nothing is quite as straight forward as that, whenever she is involved. She agrees to Danny’s mad plan to steal another item from Delgado, to pay back his backer in the UK, but having Sister Death on their heels at every turn, Acid having a conflict of confidence in her abilities, has come at exactly the wrong time! Sister Death has become far more extreme since the company broke apart, becoming quite a religious zealot and finding Acid’s loose relationships and life to be totally abhorrent. But that could be more a bit of jealousy over Acid’s former relationship with another assassin, whom Magpie obviously wanted! Acid may well have taken on more than she can currently handle and she and Danny may both lose their lives because of her doubting her abilities. Another interesting segue into Acid and Spook’s lives after the island, now living in a dump after using up most of her money travelling to track down the other team members and staying in fancy places. Without more paid work, she will soon need another form of income, so Danny’s plan is her only hope. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see if Acid can complete her kill list and find some peace at last. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above

I'll be honest, when I picked up this book I didn't realize it was part of a series. I did appreciated that there was enough exposition to help understand who Acid Vanilla is and where she is in her life. I feel I would have benefited from knowing more about the characters and situation, but there was enough to get me going.
The book is action packed and keeps you turning pages. You get to know the main characters from their point of view which I love. However, I didn't really find the characters likeable and thought they were a bit cliche. Acid, the sexy badass who doesn't want to get close to anyone and Danny, the scoundrel who only cares about money and one night stands. After a while it became pretty clear that Acid is wish fulfillment for the author. After a while, I started to feel myself not caring.
It was a decent read, was it enough to make me want to go back and read the series? Probably not.
I received a free copy of this book from Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review.
Our heroine wants to quite her old life, but a favor for a friend draws her back in. Too bad the person she is supposed to help doesn't really want to get out.
This is book four of the series, but it works fine as a standalone. There is some backstory missing, but nothing essential to your enjoyment of this book.
This is an action thriller of the spy/assassin variety. The story is well written, easy to read and intense. There is a lot of action here which is to be expected and it moves the story forward at a rapid pace. The characters are well done and have a nice bit of depth to them, even if some of it is a bit of a cliche. Overall, I found it highly engaging and hard to put down. I look forward to reading the other books in the series.
Highly recommended
I received an ARC from Hidden Gems for review purposes.
A well-paced story of an assassin for hire with a big heart. Conflicted, confused, and good at what she does, Acid Vanilla is a character to remember. This is the first of this series that I've read and it's definitely made me curious about the other books.
Just excellent writing and a really good story I’m glad to see Louisa received some justice Cannot wait to see what happens in Caesar and acid’s showdown
