Put a shapeshifting demon hunter in charge of policing paranormals. That’s a great idea.

When Dexx Colt followed Paige Whiskey to Oregon and then helped her set up the Red Star Division, he had no idea she’d abandon him—to other responsibilities, mind you—and leave him in charge. He’s a demon hunter. He breaks rules. He doesn’t enforce them.

But when bodies start appearing and all the evidence points to his team members, he has a decision to make.

Step up and protect the team he never asked for, or cut and run.
He’s been called many things. A coward was never one of them...or late for dinner. Armed with his 1970 Dodge Challenger, Jackie, and Hattie, his spirit animal, he will take the fight to the djinn’s front door. One way or another, this killer is going down. After all, killing demons is what Dexx does best.

Buy Big Bad Djinn today! You won’t regret it.

Shiftings (Whiskey Witches Series Boxset Book 2): Since these were three different series, I read each series instead of the first book of all three and then the second books. Since I've read all the books since Demon Whiskey, it didn't hurt the reading order. If you're new to the Whiskey Witches world, you'll do yourself a favor by starting with the first book Whiskey Witches. While each book can be read without the previous books, there are ongoing storylines carried through the all the series. Knowing the past just makes for a richer, deeper understanding of the individual books. I contacted Blooding to review her books.

F. J. Wolfram, Big Bad Djinn #1 - This is my second read by this author and I enjoyed BBD. I've read the Whiskey Witches series and this spinoff is the next step. After reading Double-Double Demon by Wolfram, I backtracted to this series. BBD is Dexx's domain, with Paige being elsewhere working leaving him behind to handle things. Well written, fast paced and with plenty of action, which is what D-DD shares. The characters aren't unknown to us that have read WW and the new ones add depth and conflict to the story. There's plenty of intrigue, suspense and humor to keep the reader glued to the pages. 4*

F. J. Wolfram, Lizard Wizard #2 - This is probably better than Big Bad Djinn, which was pretty good. Well written, fast paced and funny, LW is a great addition to the series. Dexx has grown in his roles. The intriguing storylines twist like a bronco keeping the reader's interest until the last page. I'm ready for more of the Red Star gang. 4*

Hattie Hunt, Bear Moon #1 - This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed BM. Well written and intriguing. These characters are interesting and characters from the Whiskey Witches are present, too. The twisting plot holds suspense, gamut of emotions and is fast paced. 4*

Hattie Hunt, Grizzly Attraction #2 - A bear and a porcupine? Sometimes diversity is too much, but it didn't matter in this interesting story. Well written with the emphasis heavy on family and friends, this was a quickly read story. The characters were good, even the baddies, and made for an interesting and entertaining story. 4*

S. M. Blooding, Desert Shaman #1 - More of the Whiskey Witches and Paige is going nuts with all her responsibilities. Well written and filled with intrigue and suspense, this fast paced story keeps the reader immersed until the end. The old characters are dealing, again, with new, nasty characters. But there's still humor, along with more paranormal dudes. 4*

S. M. Blooding, Whiskey on the Rocks #2 - Paige has less than four weeks to go before their twins are born and is she at home resting for the big event? Are you new to the series? Heck no, she's working. Well written, intriguing, fast paced, just the normal writing style of Ms. Blooding, along with a good dose of humor. The characters are great as always and keep the twisting storylines moving and the reader immersed in all the happenings. Another WW story well done. 4*

This book takes place in the Whiskey Universe. There are shifters, djinn, witches, and other paranormal creatures in the book along with humans. I recommend that you start with Whiskey Witch by S.M. Blooding; who for some reason wrote this series under a different pen name and the third series in the Witches Universe under a third pen name.
This is the second series in the Whiskey Universe so far of three series. This is really Dexx's story as Paige is busy settling things in other parts of the States. Dexx has a week to prove that he and another member of the Red Star Agency are not guilty of the crimes they are framed for doing. Not only is he busy doing this with the members of Red Star Agency who are all paranormal creatures, a djinn, ruskalea, dryad and siren later a valkyrie joins when the siren turns up missing, he is busy training with his pack and with the Whiskey family and learning how to get along with his saber tooth tiger side who he calls Hattie.
The first season: Origins contains the following books in order: Whiskey Witches, Blood Moon Magick, Barrel of Whiskey, Witches of the West
Second season: Shiftings contains the following books in order: Big Bad Djinn, Bear Moon, Desert Shaman, Lizard Wizard, Grizzly Attraction, Whiskey on the Rocks
Sven Seven Tails Crossover contains the following books in order: Double Double Demon Trouble, Mirror Mirror Demon Rubble, Dead Demon. . .Die

This is probably -okay- most definitely going to be one of my favorite series in the whiskey world.
I can't rant enough about the Wonderful World of the Whiskey Witches and with the new addition of the Red Star Division series I am beyond ecstatic - I love the snark, the emotional defense mechanisms, the hidden undertones that just buzz beneath the surface - Oh and
I want Dexx - no, really I want a Dexx - He is so perfectly flawed - he tries - he really does and I adore him for I can see why Paige is keeping him
and Rainbow, I love her character - not telling but there is something there that you don't see coming - and the pack - I could go on forever but honestly just grab a copy and delve in - You will not be disappointed
There is so much action, adventure, twists and surprises tucked within the pages of this story that will guarantee you are entertained and engaged from the first scene to the last - an awesome adventure as only Wolfram can do
I read a complimentary copy of this book

*note there were some grammatical issues with my copy but I did read and review from an ARC

More fun and adventure with the Whiskey Witches and their family!
This book made me so happy. Told from the point of view of Dexx Colt, demon hunter and reluctant pack alpha to a growing pack the extent of which he has not yet acknowledged, this book is simultaneous in time frame with Desert Shaman of the Whiskey Witches main story line.It is full of the usual humor and page-turning action that characterizes the Whiskey Witches line and has the same intense, family oriented relationships among the characters that make me want more of it and that make me want to be a part of their family. I really want to be a third Whiskey sister with some cool powers of my own and be a part of such a cool and loving family. Just sayin', folks. They've got a good thing going there and many families could take a page out of their family relationship notebook when it comes to just loving each other for who they are and taking each other as they come. I really cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I just can't.

This is the second book of the Whiskey witches series, but it is more Dexx story than Paige's. Paige is still a member of the police, but she is now in charge of the "Red Star Division", a paranormal crime fighting unit - technically. In reality she is called quite often to work with the differen paranormal councils and that leaves Dexx to lead the investigations. From demon hunter human he traversed at the end of the last book to sabertooth shifter and paranormal crimes investigator.
Like the first book the crimes are usually connected to the fight between demons and angels, with humans as collateral damage. The paranormal crime fighting unit is full of interesting characters, all with their own quirks.
A great read, if you are a fan of "Supernatural" and similar series.

While Paige is away, Dexx is in charge of the paranormal law enforcement group that Paige started. There is murder, demon possession, an angel trying to take over the world and other sundry crimes. Dexx has to solve all of the problems or their unit will be shut down. Another great book in the Whiskey Universe. Each story just keeps getting better and better. The characters are coming into their own, the unit is trying to maintain law and order and life is moving and changing. I loved this book and can't wait for more. This series is incredible as was this book.

Of course starting off with a car chase is just what you’d expect from Dexx especially if you’d read him in the S.M. Blooding series of the “Whiskey Witches”. This brings known characters into play if you did read the Blooding series, but also compliments this new author to me. I felt kind of sorry for Dexx since it seemed that everything was falling on his shoulders. We now see him and Paige are pregnant….wowsa (just a small spoiler). So much happening and this was a story with so many elements to keep you guessing who is on the side of right. A must read and a 5 star rating for sure.

Loved it! With Paige being called away often, by the Council of Elders, Dexx is in charge of the Red Star Division, a position he never wanted and doesn't feel he is qualified to handle. His team is being targeted and the Red Star Division may be shut sown before Dexx can catch the culprits.
Fascinating, well written characters that fight in magical battles in order to protect humans, their family, and can make you chuckle.Action packed, and exciting plot with magical battles and some suspense. Fantastic book.

A new series called Shiftings a book that kept me on the edge of my seat it has suspense, drama, danger, evil, a villain, Gods, shifters, Djinn, and fighting. Dexx Colt, Demon Hunter, is left in charge of the Red Star Paranormal Division when his mate and boss Paige Whiskey has to go out of town on assignment. This is a new Author for me I will look to see what else she has out. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The Story Continues

I loved this latest book in the series. Whilst Paige is away Dexx is in charge of the Red Star Division. They have never ending troubles with demons and one nasty angel. Dexx just hopes they can all survive and that he will live to see his child born.

Ok, this review will presumes that you’ve been reading at least the first four books in the SM Blooding’s Whiskey Witches series. (Confusingly, FJ Wolfram is a new pen name that the author is using for some reason.) If you haven’t then (a) stop right here and go to the first book (also titled Whiskey Witches) and read them through before turning to this one and (b) I envy you as you’ll be in for a huge treat (as they are wickedly wonderful) without having to wait way too long (ie, more than a day) after finishing each book before the next is available. That doesn’t mean you can’t read this book standalone. You can, but you’ll be missing out on it’s full impact not having the background.

Ok, on to the actual review..,

Big Bad Djinn is, quite simply, huge wonderful fun. It’s really Dexx’s story as Paige is mostly away doing other things except for a few nice cameos (one of which being hugely significant, but I’m not gonna say more ). I suspect whatever occupied her time will be in some future book, but we’ll see. Mike the evil angel is back and ever so horribly nasty. The Red Star Division’s staff are being slowly chipped away either set up for a fall or worse, while poor Deccan is left holding the bag running things in Paige’s absence. Oh, and to top things off Chief Tuck wants to shut the whole place down. And there’s a bunch of Djinn amok, and ... well let’s just say things are busy. It’s time for Dexx to “fish or cut bait”. Is he going to be the alpha leader he’s capable of or not? Read on and see. Great plot full of action, wonderful cast of characters and superb writing. What more could you ask for?

Simply superb and highly recommended.

There is so much good to say about this book. You don't necessarily have to read the Whiskey Witches first, but it makes this book so much more cohesive and fun. The husband and wife writing team of SM Blooding and FJ Wolfram is outstanding! Dexx has never really followed rules and is having a hard time changing that. It is so funny how he tries to convince himself he's not a leader (everybody else already know he is). I thought he would die when Leslie got hold of him after his night of "babysitting". The kids, mainly Tyler, are getting a better handle on their gifts as well. So with the major portion of his agents of the Red Star Division of the Troutdale PD out of commission, he MUST get his head straight. Besides demons, Dexx is now battling angels and djinns. If you like magic, shifters, car chases and a smart a$$ shifting demon hunter, you're gonna love this book. I haven't read one of these books that I wasn't totally immersed in and kept reading until I couldn't see straight. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

This is my 1st read and review for this author and this is an absolutely fantastic story, this is Season 2 and a part of the Whiskey Witches Universe and I loved this story the only problem I’m having is wether I’m reading them in the right order but that doesn’t matter too much this because they have different characters. I love Paige she’s half witch half human she’s funny she’s definitely no lady and she swears like a sailor I think so far she’s my favourite character, although I like Dexx too and Paige leaves him in a right pickle he’s a demon hunter and not someone that can look after a office. There are plenty of different magical beings in this story it kept me interested and entertained and reading right up until the end and I can’t wait to read more. A fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This story deal mostly with Dexx the recently formed paranormal Red Star Division. When things start going drastically wrong at the station and around town while Paige is away on witchy business, Dexx is forced to step up and become a leader, both at work and with the Whiskey family.
Like the rest of the series, this story offers plenty of paranormal action, the return of old enemies and a team of quirky, often inept and totally lovable (well mostly) supporting cast for the always sarcastic and wise-cracking Dexx.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to watching the Whiskey family continue to grow and develop.

First, let me say that I received an adance copy of this book from booksprout to leave a review. Second, I only leave a truthful review of my reading.

So, with that said, on to the review. This is my first time with this writer, and definitely won't be my last. This story was gr8 & I love how it started with a high speed car chase, and Dexx really named his car " Jackie", so mannish. :) I really want to read whiskey witches because they're related. It's not necessary to understand this story it's just got me interested. This story had sifters, witches, demons, angels, djinn, and even elders. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

Another great book in the Whiskeyverse

Set around Dexx Colt (Paige's significant other) this has all the trappings of a Whiskeyverse book - magic, mayhem, angels, demons and kidwrangling. Non-stop action from start to finish with lashings of snark, wit and nuggets of wisdom, this is another excellent addition to the world of the Whiskey Witches, and whilst it can certainly be read as a standalone, I really would recommend reading the other books set in this world so that you get all the nuances and back stories.

Awesome 1st book in the series. I was delighted to be an ARC reader for this book while it is a stand alone it does help to have read the Whisky Witches series as it does talk about what happened previously in the other stories and it also alludes to Bear Moon but its not necessary to have read them. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Dexx is trying his best to lead the group but this is not his skill set. He is learning as he goes along.

This is a fun great read with plenty of action. I love the humor. I was definitely smiling a lot as I read the book

There is a great group of characters and I can't wait to see what is next for them all.

This story is exciting with lots of mythology elements, angels, demons, shapeshifters, werewolves, djinn and dryads, just for a few. It is written in a laid back almost laconic first person style. it is an entertaining story, and the good guys win in the end, which always pleases me.
