This is such a lovely story from Blitz's POV and his subsequent journey to peace and reunion with his family. The poignancy and beauty that filled the pages of Letters From Blitz are colorful, emotional and heartfelt. Truly a heart-tugging experience, but one I can recommend. I love knowing and believing LOVE in its purest form prevails...always.

I think I can say with certainty that, "Letters from Blitz," by Dan Santos is the type of book that billions of people can relate to, and I mean billions... Not millions. When we think of the greatest romances, love affairs, that we have read about or seen on the big screen, we tend to forget about the endless love affairs between humans and their pets (dogs, cats, piglets, and in the case of Lord Byron a brown bear who attended classes with him at Cambridge).

Twenty years after the death of my cat, Dixie, the memory of her lingers on and each morning when I get up I say good-morning to all the pets and dogs that have belonged to me and I have got to know through friends and family that have passed on: Dixie, Lucky, Jake, Carney, Razz, Louie, Chaps, Max, Murphy, and Male'.

"Letters from Blitz," is in no way a sad book and without giving away the ending I can honestly say I came away feeling great. Mr. Santos puts into human words... Through Blitz, a Weimaraner breed ... What I have always felt my pets would say to me if they were able to speak, "human." He does not use cartoon balloons to express the dogs' feelings, but electronic letters, transported into each others' minds, send between canine family and friends, and it works perfectly.

The author touches on subjects that haunt each of us when it comes to decisions about a pet's health, the guilt we carry around after the doctor comes with the big needle, and the memories that refuse to fade.

Mr. Santos writing is crisp and clear, and the book can easily be read in one sitting. It is undeniably sentimental and at the same time uplifting. My father used to say about our dog Lucky, "If she could speak she would say I Love You," and I loved this book. Strongly recommend.

I would normally not read this type of book, but a friend recommended it.

If you have a dog especially, or ever had a dog or more generally a pet, you may really like this book.

It is about dogs' love for his owner and their family. The whole story is told through the dog's thoughts. Then as the dog is waiting for heaven, waiting for his family to go into heaven, a little confused he finds he can write letters in his mind.

These automatic letters tell the story as he communicates with others of his love for his owners.

It is highly creative and all dog lovers will love it.

Those blessed with a canine companion for some period in their life will relate to the love and heartache touchingly addressed in this book. Dan Santos has written a deeply personal novel that serves both as a tribute to the loyal rascal Blitz and as a semi-epistolary tale exploring issues of ethics, suffering, devotion, and renewal. A lighthearted story that nevertheless takes its subject seriously.

Letters From Blitz is a moving and imaginative look at the afterlife told throught he eyes of Blitz, a Weimaraner dog. You cannot help but fall in love with this intelligent, perceptive and empathetic charcter as he comes to terms with life in Rainbow Bridge and begins to understand his new surroundings and how they work. He meets his Spirit Guide who begins to tell him about the 'rules' and about a character called 'Love Giver'. He learns that he can communicate with others through the medium of 'mind letters'. Most of all he worries about his human mum and dad and how sad they are at his loss and he longs to send them a message to say he is content and that they will meet again, in the process he challanges the ethos of Rainbow Bridge.
Dan Santos has crafted a beautiful novella, full of warmth and hope. His prose style is elegant, concise and allows the narrative to take centre stage. I loved the book, reading it twice back-to-back. In addition to being a fascinating story, 'Letters from Blitz' is a philisophical look at death, loss, religion and love. It is thought provoking and has a wide appeal. I highly recommend this
charming book and I will be adding Dan's other works to my reading list.

First, let me confess that I am a dog lover and a sucker for movies and stories about dogs, from Old Yeller to A Dog’s Purpose to Marley and Me. Well, Dan Santos’ new book, Letters from Blitz, ranks right up there with those stories. It’s a story of loss, love and redemption that will make you cry and laugh. I know, I’m a guy and not supposed to cry, but I did tear up in places. But don’t worry, in the end this is not a gloomy story. Anyway, if you love dogs, this is a must read. If you love cats, I still think you’ll love this story! And if you don’t love dogs, well, shame on you.

This book was such a moving experience. Letters from Blitz offers a powerful window into a unique voice and time it reads like a personal archive of emotion, memory, and meaning. Dan Santos brings depth, vulnerability, and subtle wisdom into each page.

There’s something timeless and tender about the way the letters are written like reading someone’s heart in real time. It made me slow down and really think about connection, love, war, and the quiet in between.

Beautifully written and deeply human. A memorable read for anyone who appreciates real emotion and thoughtful storytelling.

Big Tug on the Heartstrings

Blitz is the hero of this sweet and sometimes heartbreaking story of what happens when a beloved pet passes on. To help Blitz deal with the emotions and uncertainty of waiting, a canine Spirit Guide explains the rules snd allows him to correspond with his canine siblings. I cried so much while reading this book. So, if you’re a dog lover and you’re gooey on the inside like me. You’ll love this tail!

Wow!

We have owned more than 15 Weimaraners over the past 50-plus years. None were dumb, and several bordered (and currently border) on brilliance. Blitz's personality immediately struck a chord in me. Without giving the plot away, this story is very much what I hope and believe about the Rainbow Bridge. An incredibly great read, but be warned: it takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride. A must-read for any dog lover.

I love the opening chapter you receive the dog's perspective of life and death. It's a very loving and touching book; You can tell the author put much love and thought into it. I highly recommend reading this Novella for yourself. Going on an adventure with a dog's perspective in ways you never expected but in the best way possible.

Interesting Story line about an after life for our dogs

This book builds an interesting world called The Rainbow Bridge an after life for pets. They are able to communicate between residents by a unique concept of letters. The story does capture you. Honestly, i felt that the dogs seemed to communicatet a level of maturity and education which shifted the story away from remembering the characters are dogs and detracts slightly. It is a nice read.
