I was born in 1959, grew up in Massachusetts, attended SMU (U. Mass, Dartmouth), and moved to Wisconsin to work for TSR (the Dungeons & Dragons people) in 1980. I’ve been here ever since, writing stories, drawing, and raising kids with my wife (who I’ve been with since 1980 as well).

I’ve had more than 30 books published (not counting the anthologies, but counting the ghost-written stuff only alluded to on this site). I also run a small publishing house, Walkabout Publishing. Recently, I've started posting new stories for Kindle on Amazon, in addition to my print work.

You can write to me: fanmail@stephendsullivan.com – but please be kind (and patient), okay? And don't forget to check my web site. You'll like it. Adventure guaranteed. (Monsters optional.)

Despite the salacious title, I bought this book several years ago at Bubonicon on the strength of the authors included. I knew the work of people like Robert E. Vardeman, Stephen D. Sullivan, Jean Rabe, and Lorelei Shannon and trusted them to tell me entertaining stories. They didn't disappoint. This little anthology contains ten tales of women pirates set in the Blue Kingdoms fantasy world created by Sullivan and Rabe. As one might expect from a pirate anthology, there are plenty of stories of adventure, thievery, and double crosses. There are also stories of ghosts, dark magic and romance. I liked all the stories, but for me, the standouts were "Keva's Six" by Jason Mical about an elaborate heist where we don't always know what side the players are on, "The Finch and the Panther" about a pirate captain who wants to steal a ship for her daughter but learns that daughters don't always want to follow in their mothers' footsteps, and "Balabra" by Jean Rabe about an older pirate captain who finds romance and learns that swords and guns aren't the only weapons of piracy.
