Shade lost everything to save the Land of Faerie, but she was never one to conform to anything.
There are those who cling to the old ways with tooth and nail and do not agree with her ascension to Ancient of Faerie. Enemies conspire to usurp the courts as the magic of Faerie shifts wildly, tearing at their powers and weakening the rulers of Faerie.
But the Ancients do not care, do they? They’re solitary creatures unaffected by the struggles of mere faeries and mortals.
Learning her role as a new Ancient of Faerie, Shade struggles with the loss of her humanity. As she navigates her new life, it reveals some hard truths; she’s an anomaly, an aberration of faery laws. How does a halfling become an all-powerful Ancient? Why does her magic remain unaffected? Why does her heart still ache with longing for her family? The courts are asunder, turning on each other as the human world threatens to swallow the magical land. Shade is unwilling to help but must face a difficult choice between her family, or her duties. Will she find a way to return to the ones she loves for good or fade into the oblivion of Faerie forever?

Best book ever!!! The story picks up perfectly where the previous book left off!!! Lots of unexpected twists and turns in the story I didn't see coming and blew me away! I loved the introduction of some new characters that are quite interesting! The story flows very well it's captivating it grabs you're attention from the start until the finish! It's a fun story too! i can't wait to see what comes next in the land of faerie!!! it's so exciting!!!!

Oh my heart!! Prepare yourselves for a magical adventure drawing emotions out from the deepest depths, refusing to let go! With each book I fall in love with these characters & their mysterious world more & more. Fae, humans, ancient powers that be, fate, love, hate, grief, war, survival, & date I say hope!
Their journey(s) have shown their true selves leading them exactly where they need to be. Even after all they have been through (& lost along the way) they refuse to give up. As clarity of what must be done tests everything they thought they knew threatening to break them they amaze me still. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for their future(s) as they attempt to transform what is into what could be.
