I'm a little disappointed with this book, though perhaps I had my expectations too high. It's targeted towards younger readers (12+) which doesn't really align with the wider 40k literature I've read.
It covers a lot of characters, though some notable characters were missing. I'd hoped this would be a little more of a comprehensive encyclopedia, but I think there is really only a fraction of the information you might find on one of the 40k wikis. Nevertheless, it introduced me to a couple of characters who I otherwise might not have stumbled upon, so there's that.
I think it's okay for what it is, and perhaps I ought to have considered that this would not be the biographical encyclopedia that I'd envisioned.
A decent selection of some of the more famous/infamous characters of Warhammer 40k, pictured as painted to a high standard by GW's Eavy metal with just enough information included to make for a leisurely read on the "throne" instead of doomscrolling ;)
Not really a 4 star as it's quite short, a bit under 200 pages, with most of the space taken by pictures, and includes really just a small amount from the hundreds of characters in the setting of which most people familiar to the setting know already more than what the info blurbs tell but it is also not just a 3 star as it includes a quite nice miniature of Titus Steel...ahem, I mean Titus Demetrian, protagonist of the famous video games of Space Marine 1 & 2. At the prices GW charges for character minis these days, if you really want Titus in all his jumping glory pose then the book is basically free, and as I said it makes for nice and quick reads during toilet intromissions ;) as well as a good looking spine in your library.
