Humpty Dumpty sits on his wall. How can he avoid a big, big fall? Maybe his friends can help! Reginald Howard gives a bright new spin to a familiar tale.
They change the story from the regular Humpty Dumpty because they added the pig, the rabbit, and the mouse. I wish it was the regular story, but my favorite was the rabbit.
Lovely flowers, realistic wall, an egg in jeopardy and caring friends make for a delightful story told in both English and Spanish. It is based on the English nursery rhyme of Humpty Dumpty dating from the late 18th century. The English rhymes well. The Spanish rhymes sometimes. The activity included at the end of the book helps emphasize a lesson that can be taken from the text. I recommend this book for young children, and beginning readers of a second language.
The big, big wall is about Humpty Dumpty who was sitting in a tall wall. He wanted to get off but there was only one problem: he was too short to fall down. He was afraid of getting off because he thinks that he'll crack. Then a mouse came to the aid and tried to help Humpty Dumpty. Since the mouse couldn't do it on his own, he ask his friends to help him. Will they help and bring Humpty Dumpty down?
What caught my eye about this book is that at first, I assume it was another similar story of Humpty Dumpty but then I couldn't help but notice that there was a rabbit in the story which alternates the Humpty Dumpty story. I like the idea of the story where there were several talking animals that tried to help Humpty Dumpty and that Humpty Dumpty is dressed in modern day clothes that sets the setting as if it was today. One thing that I did not like about the book was that the story was too short which it seem like it was being read in a rush. I would recommend this book to people who like to read alternate Humpty Dumpty stories.
This was a nice twist on an old nursery rhyme in a level 1 reader. Bringing together a fun nursery rhyme, easy words for a beginner reader and teaching how friends can help one another.
