In Where Does Love Hide? children are reminded that they not only receive love but have the opportunity to share love. Looking under the fun, lift-a-flap feature, children will see examples of everyday love opportunities. Each page includes a memory verse and an example of a way to share God’s love. In life, children hear the words “I love you” repeatedly, often beginning before birth. However, because love is an abstract concept and young children are concrete thinkers, they must gradually learn to understand love by what they experience. In Where Does Love Hide? children are given the opportunity to see love in action and learn what love looks like.

One of the first and most precious verses I taught my five children when they were wee ones was, "We love Him, because He first loved us." I John 4:19. This truth of God's love and the root of all Earthly love is so important to convey to children at an early age.
In Where Does Love Hide? the text simplifies acts of love by showing that love is shown by helping, sharing, being respectful. As the book is read to the young child, he or she can lift the flap and see how love is conveyed (clue: it is hiding behind the flap as well as in what we do).
This is a board book of medium size. The "board" pages and covers are softer than those of many board books, but quite durable. As with any "lift the flap" books, care should be taken to gently lift the flap.
A nice little book and a great lesson to teach the little ones.

My Review: This is another adorable book by Mary Manz Simon which takes a child on a journey of love with bible verses. It not only shows that we have for each other but the love God has for His children.
Where does love hide? is a fun book with lift-up-flaps that has the hidden answers under the flaps. Each flap reveals how a child can share their toys with their friends, being helpful and show kindness to others. Watch the excitement on a child face when you lift up the flaps to reveals what's hidden.
A great message and lesson that parents can teach their children, to best understand love when they see it and learn to show it through everyday activities.
The illustrations by Hannah Wood are simple, bright and colorful because it helps tell the story. I highly recommend it.
FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.
This book is an adorable little book that shows children the many ways that they can show love to those around them and how love can be shown to them. I like that it ties in being helpful and kind to others. Each flap reveals who they can show love and a scripture that ties that thought in. The illustrations are colorful and fun for kids. My daughter is loving this book! I feel like this one is better suited to toddlers, since it isn't very long and doesn't have a whole lot written on each set of pages. So, it works well with a short attention span. It could be a good conversation started for kids that are a little older. I like the note at the end of the book. I received this book from Tyndale in exchange for my honest review
Where Does Love Hide? is an amazing book that truly teaches children about Love; not just what it is, but how it is and why it matters. This book teaches children valuable insight into love while pulling them in with adorable pictures and heart warming words. The fact that this is a board book only makes it better for young children as it allows them to handle the book without a parent watching for page rips or damage. It would also make a great first reading book for young children learning to read.
Until I put it on display, love is sometimes hard to see.
Dr. Mary Manz Simon invites pint-sized theologians to embark upon a delightful scavenger hunt, looking for all the places love hides in the daily life of a preschooler. She does this with precision, because when we demonstrate the love of God to others, it is not with the intention of motivating Him to love us in return or to increase His love for us. Rather, we love Him (and others) because He first loved us, and all our acts of love or obedience serve to demonstrate the unselfish mercy and grace that is God’s love.
So . . . where does love hide?
Readers will find six replies, hidden under the flaps that have been incorporated into the construction of Hannah Wood’s large, vivid illustrations which feature a rainbow of children who have been caught in the act of being good with actions with which even the youngest toddler can identify.
My grandson’s tiny fingers were well able to grasp and open the flaps, and it turns out that love hides very close at hand, for the revelation of love can come with an invitation to a friend, a sharing of cookies, a cheerfully executed chore, or practical services offered to the weak or the elderly.
Relevant and simply stated Scripture verses make a solid case for each example of loving deeds and will help parents (and grandparents!) to set the example in establishing memory habits as they work together to learn the verses. A fun way to encourage this would be to let the child pull back the flap and give the answer to the question while the adult says the verse — and then switch roles.
Giving and receiving love involves words as well as actions that lend weight to those words. After all, God Himself communicated His love to us through the Word, but He didn’t stop there:
“God demonstrated His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” Romans 5:8. When our children join Him in the joy of giving, His love is put on display for all the world to see.

Where Does Love Hide? by Mary Manz Simon is simple way to introduce younger children to acts associated with showing our love toward one another. The illustrations by Hannah Wood draw readers and listeners in keeping engagement from start to finish. The imagery features bright colors and smiling faces on every single page. This book is bit too simple for any child over the age of three years old. I would say three and younger is the ideal fit. Little ones that adore lift the flap books will really like this one. My nearly 8-month-old daughter loves when I read this book and lift the flap on each page. She gets super excited and wants me to do it again and again! Though the message is probably lost on her at this age, I know as she grow in God and in understanding this book will be read again and again. It takes connects the word "Love" with actions to the words. Everyday actions such as helping with the groceries, sharing cookies, taking turns, and so are included. These practical things children can tie to their likely day to day happenings. In this book, children will learn how they receive love and ways to give it themselves. A great book to reinforce the message that we love God because he first loved us.
I like that every single two-page spread features a Bible verse. Most of the verses are shorter and simplified for young children. There's a note to parents in the back that instructions how to apply what's read in the book to the lives of their child (children). Basically that our children will mimic what they see. We are their biggest example!
My only con with this book is that there are several pages full of book text, dedication, etc. Usually, board books compile that information into less space.
Overall I feel this is a sweet book for young ones. It would make a nice gift with Valentines Day around the corner. It certainly will be mixed into the lot of books I'll be reading leading up to that date to my children.

It’s fun to watch the excitement in my grandson’s face as he quickly went to flip the page and turn down the flap before I was even done reading it. He wanted to see what was hiding under that flap. The book starts out with scripture, “Since childhood, you have known the Holy Scriptures that are able to make you wise enough to have faith in Christ Jesus and be saved.” 2 Tim 3:15
The first page says, “Where does love hide? At my house until…” The picture is of a cute girl playing in her room with blocks. The stack of blocks is a flap to be turned down to see what is hiding behind it. It has a scripture on the bottom Proverbs 17:17 which states, “A friend is always a friend.” The picture is of another child playing. The page reads,” I invite a friend to play.”
The little girl is handing her friend a block. “Throughout the book, it shows that there are many places and opportunity’s to be respectful, loving and helpful. It’s a book that helps children connect actions to their words. Such as there is a joy in giving and receiving.”
I liked the colorful pictures in this hard-back book. I think that after a few times reading this book the child will be able to read the book to the parent. The pictures make it easy to understand the words. The pictures also help bring the scripture to life and lets them (and the parents) think about applying these principles in their life; even at a young age. This book is recommended for ages 1-3.

Children begin to understand what love is from a very young age, as they either receive it in abundance from loving parents or, sadly, lack it in a lesser situation. They also understand the concept of hiding as it’s often a part of play — from baby peek-a-boo to toddler blanket forts to older kids’ hide & seek activities. That is why it’s such a clever idea to combine those two things into a board book.
Each page gives an example of how our love is hidden until we do a certain gesture — like sharing toys or helping put away groceries. Our friends or family don’t get to see or benefit from our love until we let it out.
This is also a lift-the-flap book, which, not only is always enjoyed by my toddler son, it also grounds in the concept of “unhiding” one’s love, even if subconsciously.
With one of the world’s favorite holidays just around the corner on February 14, this a great book to pull out and talk more deeply about the love God wants us to show others. I most appreciate how each lesson includes a Bible verse that the parent could either incorporate into their reading or use later in another situation that is teaching that particular concept or this book could even be used as a mini devotional, studying one type of love-sharing and what God’s Word says about it.
Where Does Love Hide? is a solid book and one I am thankful to have on my children’s book shelves now.

Where does love hide is a new addition to the line up of Tyndale Kids books. It is a simple life-the-flap book, but it teaches a big lesson. The story is told to help children understand different places in their lives that they can find love. From helping others to sharing treats, Where Does Love Hide? shows kids that they can find and show love in many ways.
At the end off the book, Simon points out in a note to parents that children best understand love when they see it and learn to show it through everyday activities.
The illustrations are simple, but they draw children in. We sat down to read the book with Sarabeth last night, and once we finished it, she immediately asked to read it again. The simplicity of the story allows her two year old mind to begin to build those connections. And the pictures draw her back to the book over and over again. We've read the book more than 5 times, and it's only been in the house for about 12 hours, most of which were spent sleeping!
I love having another book in the house that will help Sarabeth begin to understand how to give to others. And each example of love in this book is tied back to a verse to help build the connection between life and scripture. We want scripture to be real for her, and this book will help her learn how to live out love towards others.
I received a copy of this book from Tyndale. This review is my honest opinion.
Reading a book can often help a child understand the message of I love you by connecting actions to the words.
This title is an especially sweet way to do this:
Where Does LOVE Hide?
Each turn of the page presents a new way to develop this character trait and show love to others throughout many everyday activities.
This board book also includes an interactive element particularly great for the smallest readers: large, sturdy flaps to unfold and discover examples of how to be kind to others.
I especially love how each suggestion is paired with an appropriate Bible verse, adding support to the message.
This book would make a sweet addition to your home library. Its illustrations are engaging and the six different places it shows love hiding are relatable to children everywhere.
The flaps make this selection entirely appropriate for reading with babies, but the subject matter and verses (which would make a great first memory set) extend the age of the audience throughout preschool and possibly even early elementary years, especially as you start to focus on learning about character qualities with your child.
I highly recommend this little book. You can order your own copy here and begin showing your little one all the ways love can hide in his or her world.
"Where Does Love Hide?" has 6 double-spread pages that each demonstrate a way for children to show love. Each page has "Where does love hide?" on one side and a flap for children to open on the other. Behind the flap is a picture that completes the scene. On the flap is text describing how to show love and a Bible verse relating to that action. (For example, "A friend is always a friend." Proverbs 17:17) The problem is that you'll lose much of the text if the flap (which is thin cardboard) gets ripped off.
So what are the ways to show love? Inviting a friend over to your house to play, helping Mom to put the groceries away, taking turns when playing with a toy at the park, sharing your cookies with others, helping a wheelchair-bound grandpa in the yard, and saying (or hearing) "I love you" at bedtime. The illustrations are stylized and simple (like the cover picture). They illustrate the text but don't go much beyond that.
This felt like a teaching book rather than an inviting story, probably because it's intended to teach children concrete ways to show love. The flaps are a fun idea, but I really doubt they'll last so it's unfortunate that much of the text is on the flap.
I received this book as a review copy from the publisher.
Where does love hide is a simple lift-the-flap book, that teaches children a big lesson. The point of this book is to help children understand some of the different places in their lives that they can find love.
From helping others to sharing toys." Where Does Love Hide?" is geared towards ages 1-3 yr olds, but 5-7 yr olds who are learning to read can enjoy it as well, but some of the words may be a bit hard for them.
My 5 & 7 yr olds LOVED this book. my 7 yr old knew just about all of "words all on her own and she now reads it to her little sister daily(sometimes several times a day). This would make a great gift for the little ones in your life.
*Disclaimer* I received a copy of this book free to review. I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.
What a wonderful little book to read to ones little ones. Filled with insightful lessons, I love how this book incorporates scriptures to help reiterate the lessons the book is trying to teach kids manners and important things like sharing, being kind and helping others. This book is a gem, made of sturdy this book is thin cardboard, kind of a cross between a paperback and regular board book. It should hold up well to little ones hands. This book is a great resource to have on hand, to use for Sunday school or give as a gift, such a great little book! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Where Does Live Hide? is a children's book that shows and shared love. It is an interactive book where the adult or child can lift the flaps to see where love hides as well as a short Bible verse that goes with the situation on the page. It has great illustrations and by repeating phrases, it helps young readers to be able to read along. This is a cute book that I hope to read over and over and have read to me as well. The pictures give a great story for those who are not yet reading so that they can tell their own story as they point out what is in the pictures. A great addition to any collection. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, the review is my own.
I just received this book and plan to read it with my two young sons. I liked the simple message and the fun format. Where Does Love Hide by Mary Manz Simon is a well-put together board book with lift-the-flaps. The illustrations are simple, but meaningful. The book's colors are bright and cheerful. Each page has a lift-the-flap showing a good deed that children can do, along with a corresponding Bible passage for children to learn. This book would make a wonderful gift for a child or a Sunday school, or Christian preschool teacher.
I must say this book is so fun! Each page has a lift-the-flap picture which is always a joy for children. This takes the kids down to the basics on how love is shown throughout the day. Love is shown through kindness and sharing and doing for others. I think this little book does a nice job portraying this and would make a great conversation starter with little ones! Five stars.
