Although the poet used an erasure method to create the poems, I never felt confined or limited by that frame while reading the collection. The language still felt sincere and never gimmicky or too self-aware, each word held it's own through the 'voice' of the source text and through the voice created in 'The Match Array.'
Anyone interested in the possibilities of erasure poetry must read this. And for those who are less concerned with the work's formal or methodological qualities, this collection will still surprise and mesmerize you with its conflicted landscape and beautifully precise language.
