Penguins Bob and Flo love to play hide-and-seek with their new friend Sam at preschool. But Bob isn’t very good at hiding! Every time, Flo and Sam find him right away. After several funny failed attempts, Bob finally gets the hang of the game—and then enjoys the cake his friends baked in the preschool kitchen corner as his reward.

At penguin preschool the game of choice for Bob and Flo is hide-and-seek but newcomer Sam just doesn't get it at first. When he does he is rewarded with the cake his new friends made for him in the fake kitchen.
I was not a fan of this book. In fact both my nephew and I were a little mystified about what is going on. Normally age is not a factor for he and I - we roll with the young crowd and roll with the older picture book crowd, it doesn't matter to us! This time I felt like this was for a real young child with the specific problem of disliking preschool and needing a story to show that the outcome can be better than they think.
I did like that he hid behind the blocks made up to be a fake him - that was our favorite spread and the one my nephew drew... but the other illustrations didn't really add to much to the story. Even dull stories normally have a little something extra in the illustrations. The book is not a stinker but we were disappointed.
BOTTOM LINE: For young kids in preschool.

Bob and Flo Play Hide-and-Seek was a book I picked up for a virtual baby shower I was invited to. I like giving gifts and I love books, so it seemed like a good fit! A local book store had it on clearance and it was in perfect condition. I grabbed the book to give it a quick review before I ship it off to it's new home.
This book is very sweet but feels like it's missing a couple pages (think the whole trouble the movie Elf had at the beginning, where Hobbs' book was missing pages). Bob suddenly has a cake after he found a good hiding spot. Either way, it's still a great book for preschoolers!
Although this book was not my favorite, there are some children who I think may like it still! This is a story about a penguin who is not very good at playing hide and seek. He tries a few times and really can't get the hang of it which adds some humor to the book. Then he finally get the hang of it and gets to enjoy a cake that they bake with his friends. The story just doesn't have too many things to teach children about and would be maybe just on the shelf for children to read individually. The media in the book appears to be colored pencil or maybe even digital art that looks like colored pencil.
I think I might've missed out on something at the end, whether Bob is sneaky or not. Either way, it was cute and the kids enjoyed the writing and minimal drawings.
Good book for teaching young children the approach to play, communication and social emotional skills. The illustration is nice large and appealing to the eye. Good book source to cross domains in teaching. Recommended for young children starting preschool.
This book is good to read to kids because they can learn how to play hide and seek correctly. The pictures in the book will also help them with visuals with how to play the game also.
Make no mistake about it, learning to hide isn't easy at all. At least, not easy if you're an innocent little preschooler.
Golly, I remember how my son at that age was hopeless at hiding. For hide-and-seek, he always went to the exact same hiding place.
Sweet for his mom: I wasn't the least bit worried that this meant some terrible deficiency in him. The kid was three years old, for crying out loud!
By contrast, Flo and Sam are determined to teach Bob, and teach him right away. Their method works, too.
Just goes to show, there's more than one way to be a good parent or friend. FIVE STARS for this interesting story; not exactly suspenseful, more like the opposite. But in a convivial way!
Hide and seek may seem like a simple game, but finding good hiding spots isn’t always easy! These cute penguins have a lot of fun trying on a rainy pre-school day.
I think my niece is getting a little old for this reading level. Unless she reads it on her own? Either way, it went by really quickly, so we had time for four stories today!
Alice’s Thoughts: Hide and seek may seem like a simple game, but finding good hiding spots isn’t always easy! These cute penguins have a lot of fun trying on a rainy preschool day.
Bob and Flo are playing hide and seek, but Bob has some things to learn about hiding... The two penguins practice the game together and Bob's hiding skills are greatly improved. This book has some interesting illustrations using watercolors and texturalized elements. This book is certainly geared toward more younger aged children, however kids will love the endearing characters, and this book might encourage a game of hide and seek!
(You can tell how much I didn't like the first book when my first thought on seeing Bob with is umbrella on the first page was, "Is it *his* umbrella, or did he just take it from someone else?")
Anyhow, there was nothing in this book I didn't like - just a simple story about how to be better at hide-and-seek, and a good friend story.
An adorable book about friendship and learning how to play hide and seek! I believe that this book would be great for readers who are just beginning to read, as there was not an overabundance of words and they were all relatively simple; great to sound out.
Bob and Flo and their friend Sam play hide-and-seek, but Bob isn't very good at hiding. Once Flo and Sam give him a few pointers Bob hides so well he really impresses his friends with his cleverness.
