It wasn’t until she met Merrick Drake that she realized when to stop; when running was no longer an option. For the first time in her life she had someone she could relate to; someone who wouldn’t judge- who saw the person she was inside. She and Merrick connected…on more levels than one.

I'm just not a fairytale ending kind of girl...

Well damn damn damn and double damn. I think books need to come with a warning for people like me. Warning: This book has insta-love. Before I go into more detail, let me preface by saying that my 3 star rating here is not a bad thing. This was neither a hit or a miss for me, it fell into that weird limbo of an "OK" read. I feel like these are the type of reviews that are the hardest for me to write since I didn't feel strongly about a book one way or another, neither loved nor hated it.

What worked for me
The writing. I truly enjoyed the author's "voice" and writing style. This was my first book by Ashley Wilcox, and I will gladly read her future ones.

Merrick Tattooed bartender that happens to be a dirt bike racer? Hell to the yes, sign me up for that. I'm really looking forward to his book.

The twist in the middle of the book
Holy drama batman! I did NOT see that coming.

What didn't work for me

Kayla.
It started off so good. When Kayla admits to a history of being a slut and a party girl, I thought, "FINALLY! A book that doesn't have an almost 30yr old virgin. Thank you Jebus!"
But then...she took a turn for the worse. Kayla moves to NY and leaves behind her boyfriend of 3.5 years to pursue a career and in search of something more for her life. She starts a new job...but then turns into a blushing slobbering fool over a man she JUST met in an elevator. All of a sudden, her new-found independence and job come second. And she becomes all about the sexy and mysterious Miles, who she pretty much knows barely anything about.

The insta-love
Let me summarize this.
Day 1: She meets Miles in an elevator. Looks and breathy hello's are exchanged. Lust is in the air...
Day 2: Some more conversation and drinks at a bar. Miles pretty much puts her on the spot in front of her boss to let her know that they're dating. Ummm...
Day 3: A date? I think it was a date?
Day 4: Sexy times ensue after their gala date
Day 5: Love is in the air

The multiple POVs
The book had 3 POVs, Kayla, Merrick, and Miles. Typically, this would really work for me. Unfortunately, in this case, I developed more of a liking for Merrick. For me, this was because we get zero background on Miles until the very end. At least, I think that was why.

Kayla and Miles
I never really felt a connection with them. For me, this was probably the speed at which everything happened. I found the relationship development really lacking. This is the biggest reason I struggle with insta-love in books.
I felt more of a connection between Merrick and Kayla.

This book was a quick and mostly enjoyable read. I read it in one sitting. While it was not a 5 star book for me, that's not really a reflection of the writing. It truly had potential. But unfortunately, I always struggle with insta-love and it barely turns out to be a good experience for me. I think many would still enjoy this book, so don't let my personal bias turn you off from reading it.

I am really looking forward to Merrick's book next. The sneak peek we get of his story at the end of this one definitely has be intrigued.

Running From Forever is a little different than my previous books. For starters, it's written in three parts (you'll see when you read it), and although it's categorized as new adult, it has a more mature feel to it- the Forever Series characters are growing up ;) With that said, I really enjoyed writing it. I fell in love with characters that I didn't want to care about, making me have to change the original ending multiple times. And although it may appear to be your typical love triangle, it isn't. It's actually much different. Running From Forever really tugged on my heart, so I'm hoping it tugs on yours too :) Happy reading!

This is a spin-off from The Forever Series by Ashley Wilcox.
I have not read any of those books as of yet.

This book really had me on the edge of my seat. Now at first I almost was like "this is too sugary sweet". Girl moves to new city, meets hot guy, goes out..bam in love. NOPE Don't see it. Then WHAM! SUPER TWIST ALERT!!
I won't give anything away but not everything is how it seem.

The one thing that bothered me in this whole story is Merrick. I loved him and I loved his relationship with Kayla. But what I didn't like is how there was more "relationship" between them that grew and developed then between Kayla and Miles. I want more for Kayla and Miles. I just felt something was missing. But I enjoyed it and I really loved the multiple POV. I can't wait for Merrick's story and I really love his physical description. Tattooed hotties always make me happy.

Now I really have to go back and read the books in the series that this came from.

e-arc provided by author for blog tour, in exchange for my honest thoughts and review

It was time to live the life I always dreamt of living.

Let me start off by saying that I didn't know Running From Forever was a spin-off of a series by Ashley Wilcox. So you don't need to worry about reading the series, before reading Running From Forever because it's a spin-off. When I was reading Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox, I got a "The Devil Wears Prada" kind of vibe- working for an evil boss that makes your job super complicated, and have to prove to her that you are worthy of the job.

Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox starts off with a goodbye/break-up letter, Kayla (main character) leaves Trevor (ex-boyfriend). I don't think this is the best way to break-up with someone you've been dating for three years, and I did feel like Kayla was being selfish. But from the very beginning of the story I felt a connection with Kayla's character, and I understood why she decided to run from her old life. Who wouldn't want to progress in life in something they love? Kayla is a runner and has always been a runner her entire life. When she goes to New York and lands a job that will help her get to her dream job, she feels that she made the right decision to run. When she starts to encounter a few problems with her personal life in New York she decides to run away from the situation, and not face her problems. Kayla's character does develop along the way. She becomes a professional women, is finally free to be her true self, has learned to accept the good things that are coming into her life, and she has finally stopped running from true happiness.

I was weak. Exposed. Caught. There was no denying the way he made me feel. His allure was one I couldn’t turn a cheek to.

I don't know how I felt about Miles Blackwells. He's hot, successful, SUPER confident, professional, sleek, and he's Kayla's bosses brother. I did like Miles, especially all his sweet, thoughtful, and romantic gestures and actions when it came to loving Kayla and proving his love to her. But I just wasn't all head-over-heels for Miles Blackwells. Don't hate me, but I just didn't feel the click go between us. Before I forget, we also get to read from Miles POV in Running from Forever :D! I did enjoy reading from his POV, because we get a little more background information from his character. I also felt how deeply he cared and loved Kayla. Reading from his POV was one of my favorite parts in Running From Forever. Why? Because even though I didn't feel the click between us, Miles made me swoon all over him.

In the short amount of time that we’d known each other, I fell in love. And yes, as Miles seemingly agreed, it was terrifyingly crazy, but it happened. We both fell fast. It was out of our control.

Miles and Kayla first meet in an elevator where they both work. Their attraction towards each other is obvious from the first moment they meet, but the second time they meet in the elevator, Miles makes it obvious to Kayla that he is interested in her. Their relationship does develop very quickly, but not as quickly as other relationships I've read about (Blackstone Affair Series). But I didn't have a problem with this, because it's just two hot and professional people having an attraction towards each other and giving it a shot. Their relationship is sort of hot, but it's more of both of them understanding each other, respecting each other, and caring for each other on a whole different level. The only problem is that Miles is not being completely honest with Kayla and when she finds out what he's hiding from her all hell breaks lose.

The immediate level of comfort she added to my life was something I’d never found with anyone.

In total there are three POV in Running from Forever- Kayla's POV, Miles POV, and Merrick's POV. Merrick the owner of a bar, does motocross racing (second job), has tattoos, and is freaking hot. When I started reading from Merrick's POV, I didn't understand why Ashley Wilcox included his POV in Running From Forever, because he is not present in much of the story. But by reading from Merrick's POV you get to understand Kayla's character a little more, and how Merrick's connection to her character is important. I did enjoy reading from his POV, especially at the end! OMG!!!! I can't freaking wait to read Merrick's story, because I loved his character.

“I’m done running,” she repeated softly. “You’re my forever. I’m done running from happiness.”

Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox was a breath of fresh air, because it's different from other books I've read. I've never read a book with three different POV's, especially two being male character's POV, and enjoyed it so much. By reading these three different POV, I felt a connection to all three characters, and I felt that each POV revealed a different side of Kayla. Now, I can't wait to read Merrick's story!

Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox

I was given this ARC to read in exchange for my honest review. This is only the second book from Ashley that I’ve read. Hell, this was a complete 360 from the first one I read, I enjoyed this more.

It was written in three parts, three POV from three main characters, Kayla Reynolds, Miles Blackwell and Merrick Drake. A rather quick and relaxing read.

The book started with a break up letter from Kayla to Trevor. They had a three year relationship and Kayla ran after Trevor proposed. I went what the fuck? Someone want to spend the rest of their life with you. Someone wants to commit to you and you ran? What is wrong with this picture? I totally thought Kayla was a stupid bitch. She definitely didn’t start off on the right foot with me for sure. Also, who break up a three year relationship via a letter? She, obviously! She definitely wasn’t in my good books. I feel sorry for Trevor. Three years, Kayla! Have some fucking decency, tell the poor guy face to face, he deserve that much at least! Kayla was a total coward. So anyway, I had to move on. Btw, my positive opinion of Trevor flew out the window completely later in the book. He wasn't what I thought.

Just settling down in a small town was never what Kayla Reynolds pictured her life to be. Since she was a little girl, she wanted to be an entertainment news anchorwoman. Now, with a degree in Journalism, she can fulfill this life long dream. Staying in a small town like Cortland was not an option for this dream to come true. I assume, Trevor was content being where he is and if being married to him means staying in that small town, she has no other option but to pack up and leave when a job opportunity became available at ETV, the largest broadcasting company in New York City.

With a mind set to succeed and hoping to become a successful businesswoman, Kayla left her wild and carefree life in Cortland. She only want to focus solely on her career so her personal love life is going to take a backseat as well. Nothing is going to come between her dreams. Well...since when anything ever goes as plan huh?

Miles Blackwell, CEO and part owner of ETV. He is incredibly handsome, absolutely GQ material, charming, smooth, a total package. Miles was born into a life of privilege, never had to work hard for anything. A total ladies man, living the high life, never date never wanted to commit, a life style that he’s perfectly contented with until one early morning in the elevator of ETV, his whole world was about to change. Kayla meet Miles. Miles meet Kayla. He was totally captivated by this stunningly beautiful woman.

Merrick Drake, owner of McShane Irish Pub and Dirt Bike Racer. A total eye candy, extremely attractive, tall, very muscular, short brown hair, gorgeous big brown eyes and tatted covered arms. Mmm...yummylicious. Totally my type of man. Kayla’s first encountered this eye candy on Tipsy Tuesday, a ETV social gathering. He had a thing for Kayla as well. He was inexplicably drawn to her.

Both men played a major role in her life. How? You asked? I sure as hell won’t tell you. Also, halfway through the book there’s a major mind fuck twist that I sure as fuck did not see coming. I was all O_O, what the fuck just happened?!?!?! When life threw Kayla a curveball, instead of trying to find a solution to fix it, she ran. Will she stop running? Who will help her find her way and guide her through this life journey?

Since this is a pretty quick read, I don’t want to give anything away so your solution if you want to know what the hell I’m trying to tell you in my review is to get the book when it’s released on September 22nd, 2013. But what I can tell you is that there is a happy ever after. If you love Merrick as much as I do, you’re in luck because a book is dedicated to him coming out this late fall.

I can truly say that I enjoyed this book. It’s a sweet little romance that tugged at my heart plentiful throughout the book. I like the fact that it’s not draggy and long winded. And there were parts that reminds me of The Devil Wears Prada movie. I love that movie. Happy Reading!!

*I received an ARC from author for an honest review

Have you ever needed a fresh start or a do-over? Just wanted to pick up and leave and go where no one knew who you were in your last town or anything about your past??? I think at some point we could all probably say yes to that question.

That is exactly what Kayla Reynolds decides to do! She moves to the Big Apple after landing a job with ETV. Although being an assistant to a CEO is not her dream job it does get her one step closer to where she wants to be which is an entertainment news anchorwoman. She works for Connie which reminded me of Meryl Streep’s character on The Devil Wears Prada. You question why Connie is so intimidating. Everyone in the office feels that way about Connie. She has excellent work ethics but could it be something deeper???

Kayla has an encounter with an extremely attractive man in the elevator on her first day. Her best friend warns her though to stay away from those types of people. They are always the ones with secrets. I think most of us have read enough romance novels that we know what 'those types of people are'! :) There is just something about this stranger that she is drawn to though. He ends up being Miles Blackwell, one of the CEO’s of the company. My first thought…. NOT GOOD! Can you date within the office?? I can definitely feel the chemistry between the two.

The people at ETV go out on Tuesday’s for what they call ‘Tipsy Tuesday’ to a local bar and there Kayla meets Merrick. He is the owner/eye-candy bartender that everyone loves to look at. There is also a connection between Kayla and Merrick.

Without giving anything away, there are deep, emotional relationships built along with strong rooted friendships. Connections from the past come back with the potential to destroy trust and part of those relationships. Some people are even looking for revenge.

To help cope.... sometimes you just need to let loose and have a few drinks with a friend and not discuss your problems. Nothing in the world is easy but there are times when you just need a little escape to forget about your worries and troubles. Is it easier to face the problem or just pick up and move again?

The big question that each reader will have answered is whether Kayla decides to continue running or finally take off those running shoes and enjoy her forever. Will she do it independently as originally planned or will she decide to keep a man by her side?

Great read! I really enjoyed this and would love a continuation story on some of the other characters in the book!

Is there a timeline to love? Is it written in some cosmic rulebook that you must know someone for a certain amount of time before you can say those three magical words? Of course not! Sometimes love builds over time, smoldering and crackling beneath the ashes. Other times it ignites your soul from only the smallest spark.

Kayla is a recent college graduate running from a comfortable ho hum life to the exciting adventure she has always wanted. Taking off to NYC to work for one of the country's largest entertainment broadcasters is a dream come true. Deciding to focus solely on her career, finding live, or even lust, is the last thing on her agenda. But when does anything ever go according to plan?

Miles has lived a life of privilege, filled with the best money can buy. Gorgeous women drape themselves across his arm and change on a near weekly basis. This lifestyle suits him just fine until one early morning in the elevator of the ETV building. Miles' world was knocked off it's axis with just one look at Kayla. he was drawn to her. Captivated by her. Knowing her has to have her, he forgoes all other plans to make that happen.

With Kayla, Miles' feels something her has never experienced before. But is that spark enough to set their relationship ablaze?

While Running from Forever is the story of Kayla and Miles, for me the true star of the book was Merrick. He was my favorite character in this novel. I loved that he was a down to Earth guy who didn't treat Kayla like she was made of glass. I enjoyed Kayla's determination. She knew what she wanted and committed to making it happen. I thought Miles was a little too sweet, but that is my own personal preference and shouldn't reflect poorly on the character himself. He was sweet, kind, and gentle.

This was my first novel out of Ashley Wilcox series. I will definitely have to find the time to read the others. I especially look forward to Merrick's story!

Happy Reading!!

This is a feel good romance written from three different points of view, which i found great as we get a really great insight to the situation from all sides of the story. Im not sure why but i love to read a story from a guy’s POV and this book had two guy’s POV i was in heaven!

I found this book very relaxing easy to read and flew through it in a couple of hours with a couple of cups of coffee, very enjoyable start to my Sunday.

Kayla has always been a runner, when life gets to tough for her she runs to a new life to start over, its easier that way. So after he boyfriend of three years proposes to her she runs, runs to the bright lights of New York to start over, she’s not the fairytale ending kind of girl.

At Kayla’s new job she meets Miles Blackwell who is technically her boss as he part owns the firm where she works as the assistant to Connie, Miles’s sister. On a night out with the guys from the office one tipsy Tuesday Kayla meets Merrick, a bartender and all round great guy.

Both men change the way Kayla see’s life and maybe on of them will give her a reason to stop running.
I loved the relationship between the characters and the wonderful chemistry they had, each person had qualities that you found lovable, Ashley Wilcox makes you a a believer in her stories they are gripping and keep you engaged. The twist in this story crept upon me i was so not expecting that, the dirty creep!.

I totally fell in love with Merrick and cannot wait to read the spin off book that he is getting, he is such a lovable person everyone should be lucky enough to have the chance of a Merrick in there lives.

I thought the way that hero and heroine fell for each other within the week was great, not all love happens over months or years, so times it hits you like a truck in a matter of days. Life is different for each and everyone of us.
It was nice to see Kayla find her place in the world and stop running.

This book is just one of those feel good romances that make you smile, another great read in the Forever series from Ashley Wilcox.

Our story starts out on somewhat of a what the heck moment. I'll admit I didn't like Kayla at first and for the first part of the book didn't really care. But as I read my feelings towards her changed and I grew to respect her and who she was striving to become. Although I knew everything was somewhat like a dream for her come true. All good things come to an end no matter what or who you are.

We met Miles and I don't know but something about him had my warning bells going off. I do believe Kayla became involved with feelings with the relationship with Miles way too fast. Also she assumed a lot of things without actually talking and asking questions. Which I thought was naive on her part. Plus I wasn't too sure of Miles genuine feelings toward her. You can tell he's hiding something.

Then as they say "shit hits the fans" and everything came crashing down around Kayla. I will say I didn't expect THAT. It really surprised me in all honesty. So when she runs it doesn't surprise me in the least. I think any woman in that position would of ran. So we met Merrick and oh you can not love him. He's such a great guy wish I could find one for myself.

As the story progress' we learn more about Miles and how is effected by everything that happened. We also see what lengths he will go too. Now I'm not going to say anymore cause let's face if I did I would give everything away and we don't want that. So make sure you buy it & read it.

Till next time - Sweets Books

Kayla Reynolds decides a fiancé isn’t in her future plans. The day after her boyfriend proposes, Kayla leaves everything behind to head to New York City. She always dreamed of having a career in the entertainment field. A twist of fate lands a job offer in Kayla’s lap that she cannot resist.

After a three year relationship to Trevor, Kayla leaves him without a ‘real’ breakup. She decides to write him a letter. Yes - I said she broke up with her new fiancé in a letter!! This certainly leaves you wondering if Kayla has lost her mind. After all, who does that? Then you read more into the story……..

While setting up her new life, Kayla decides she wants to leave her personal life on hold and focus on her career. That was until Miles Blackwell waked into the elevator with her at ETV. This sexy, hot specimen was charming - to say the least. After Miles constant flirting turns into a desire to date her - Kayla finds herself unable to turn away.

Will they find their happily ever after?? Not so quick!! In an unusual turn of events - Kayla finds herself crushed from a crazy turn of events (one you will not see coming). Turning to Merrick - the owner of a local pub - for comfort….Kayla finds herself torn between her heart and her head.

Thanks to the author for an ARC provided for my hones review!!

Running From Forever -

Would Kayla finally stop running or would it all be too much to handle?

I love all of Ashley's books and this one was no different.

When you first start reading there's heartbreak right away.......at least that is what it seams. I honestly didn't know if I was going to like Kayla or not, leaving Trevor the way she did. Who does that right? In a letter no less, its almost as worse as a text message breakout....almost.

Kayla goes to New York to live her dream with ETV. This is where she meets the hansom Mr.Miles Blackwell in an elevator no less. I love meeting handsome men in elevators. When their story first start I was all like NOOOOOOO. You just left Trevor and he's going to come back for you and you're going to live happily ever after! You can't fall for Miles!!!! But I was oh so wrong.

Miles Blackwell has it all, money, looks, power except for love. How long do you have to know someone before you fall in love. Is it so taboo to fall in love within a day?

I LOVE IT!!! I love the instant connection Miles and Kayla had (even if I was confused about my feeling for Kayla and Trevor). Their back and forth, the instant heat when Miles touches Kayla, just the feeling of when Miles speaks to Kayla turns her on. How could you go wrong????

Then there is Merrick! The sexy handsome bartender than falls for Kayla just as fast....just differently. The one she runs to when things get rough. I love their relationship. Their instant connection reminds me of my relationship with my brother. So snarky with each other but in the end would do anything for one another. I love how Merrick is so protective over Kayla (i'm very excited about his book next!)

I was left wondering a couple of things...
1. What happened between Miles and his best friend? I feel it was part of the story that we got roped into and then nothing ever came of it. It left me with a little hole that will always wonder why they aren't friends any more. I know most people won't care it was was a very brief part of the story but I like stories to be ALL wrapped up. I hate loose ends unless another book comes from it.

2. What is with all of this "suitable" talk about Kayla's job from Miles. I understand he is the CEO of the company but hey he fell in love her just being an assistant, it certainly felt like he was putting her down a little. Made me sad.

3. Once she found out the story from her sister why didn't Kayla go running right to Miles. Although I love their reconnection, I just wonder how it would have been different if she stopped the running by going straight to him instead.

4. I hope there is a follow up story for them. With a wedding and lots of kids in their future!!!

5. I hope there is a story for her sister as well. I hate what Trevor did to her and we really didn't get a feel of what was happening with her after everything was said and done. Yes, she got a job and was able to take over the lease from her sister but I am greedy and want more.

All in all, I always love love stories and this one is no different. It is such an easy read, I was super happy that I got a chance to read it.

Running From Forever is all about Kayla Reynolds, who starts of the novel by leaving her boyfriend of over three years, via a note after his marriage proposal. Ouch! She just wasn't ready to settle down.
She moves to New York City having snagged a pretty awesome job at ETV.

Miles Blackwell, co-partner of ETV, walks into her life on the first day on the job. They have a sizzling, instant connection and quickly fall for one another.
The chemistry between the two was undeniable and it was clear that they were truly in love.

Merrick Drake is the owner of the bar that ETV employees frequent. It was a little difficult to decipher the relationship between him and Kayla. Despite knowing how much she loves Miles, there was also a love for Merrick. He was someone that you instantly fell for. He was protective, funny, and kind. He stole my heart, that's for sure!
While Kayla has love for these two men, they play different roles in her life. It seemed Ashley Wilcox intended to make us question who was her true love but towards the end it becomes very clear.

"I could listen, and I'd always be there as someone she could bounce her emotions of off, but I couldn't relate, and for that I was eternally grateful she had Merrick.
He was her escape, but I was her home."

--It was so amazing that Miles was able to get her relationship with Merrick and not get jealous.

This book is split into three point of view's: Kayla, Merrick, and Miles. It's always nice to read the male POV and Wilcox did a great job of voicing the men. Having all three views heard really helped the story come together perfectly.

The suspense and plot twist were so unexpected. The suspicion was just being built and then WHAM! The rug gets pulled out from under you. There's a moment where we get a funny feeling about Miles. Something about him is off for just a second but we see it long enough to begin to suspect. Regardless of that, the big secret still took me by surprise.

This book is a quick read but very well-written. I can't wait to have some more of Merrick!

~~Favorite Moments~~

"It was a weird feeling the girl gave me. I couldn't put my finger on what it was. It wasn't lust--I didn't have the urge to jump her bones, but it couldn't be love, either--we barely knew each other. It definitely was something, I knew that much. Kayla was someone I wanted to spend all my time with--she was a breath of fresh air in my monotonous life. The immediate level of comfort she added to my life was something I'd never found with anyone." -Merrick

"You're just at a crossroads, not lost."
She turned over, prompting me to do the same. We were both in the same position, facing each other with a pillow tucked between our arm and head, the blankets pulled to our chests.
"How do you know?" she asked once we were settled, looking hopeless and unsure.
"Because we've all been there at some point," I told her truthfully.
"Are you there now?"
I shook my head slightly. "No, not anymore, but I was for a while."
"How did you know what direction to go?"
"Seriously?"
She nodded her head for me to continue.
"I ran. I didn't care where. I just ran as fast as I could." She snickered, showing a slight smirk, making me question, "What?"
"Nothing," she smiled. "It just makes sense…why we click."
"And why's that?"
"We're both runners."

"As my mouth progressed down her neck and over her chest, Kayla's whimpering and moans increased. I pulled her peak into my mouth and her control was forgotten; so was mine. Delectably running my tongue back up her body from her chest to her neck to her plump lips, I pressed my forehead against hers, whispering, "I love you," as my erection slipped into her.
Only soft kisses in between heavy breathing were exchanged as I moved in and out of her, connecting on a level we had yet to reach. It was sensual yet passionate, intense yet soft, mind-blowing yet enduring--lovemaking like I had never experienced before." -Miles

“Time is just a number; there are no rules on how or when to fall as long as you’re ready when you do.”

I am a huge Ashley Wilcox fan! I haven’t missed a book of hers yet, and have no plans to. Running From Forever was different, though. Different, and even better than any of the others I have read by her. That different is what made me love this one more than any of her other books.

Just a few days ago, I posted on facebook about how I love books with multiple POVs, and this one stole my heart with that! I am an emotions girl, and I want to feel what the characters feel. Yeah, I need to know what the characters are doing, but more importantly, I want to know how they feel about it. I want to cry, hurt, laugh, love, and be angry right along with the characters. And I could do that with this one. I was able to get this story from THREE different POVs. My only complaint was that I wanted just a tiny bit from Trevor’s POV.

“I left to be someone new; to become the person I always dreamt of becoming. I left to start fresh in a city that didn’t know me. In a city I could be myself. In a city I could stop running from demons. A place where I didn’t have to settle or pretend to be somebody I wasn’t.”

So this story follows along with a few characters that we have previously seen from Ashley. If you can’t remember who Kayla is, she was Leah’s friend, and we get a few scenes of Leah and Matt in this story too :) So, Kayla is running. She felt that her life was not heading in the direction that she wanted and she ran. Kayla ran to a job that hopefully will give her a fresh start and new opportunities. She left behind an ex of 3 years(Trevor) with hardly no explanation. At first I was sad for Trevor but that was short lived. LOL! Because, what happens is, she meets a man that brings out something in her that surprises her. Does she need to jump back into another relationship?? NO! But, does she?? YES!! Who wouldn’t?? He was charming, attractive, and rich. But I have to admit that I had a bad feeling about him(Miles), even if I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen. We all know that feeling of reading a book and getting anxious because you know the happy times have to end at some point.

“As much as Miles Blackwell made my skin crawl with delight, I still had a backbone and would never let a man take my voice.”

I was waiting!! I knew it was coming, and wow, it was a doozy. I was totally thrown back by this twist. And I wanted to ass punch a few people for Kayla. “What a bunch of lying f’in losers” might have been the exact words that came out of my mouth. Ok, so now that Kayla is running again, she runs right into the arms of Merrick. Oh!!! I LOVE Merrick :) Merrick is a down to earth, fun, hot, sweet, and all around amazing guy. So, what does a girl do in this situation?? Lying rich boy or amazing hotty?!?! Sounds like an easy decision, huh, but it’s not. And this is where all those different POVs came in handy. I loved being in Kayla, Merrick, and Mile’s heads. A situation always looks so much different when you getting more than just one POV. All these characters had their own reasons for everything they did and I enjoyed every moment of reading about it :)

So, in conclusion, if you are looking for a good romance story with a strong female character, a couple of hot guys, a lot of humor, and some quite steamy sex scenes, this one comes highly recommended by me :)Happy reading!!!

3.5 stars!

Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox was a quick enjoyable read. I have never read a book written by this author before. This is the 5th book in The Forever Series, but you don't need to read the other ones to follow Miles and Kayla's story. After reading Running From Forever, I added Leah and Matt's story, Waiting on Forever on my soon TBR list :) Even if I already know where they stand, it made me want to find out about the way they fell for each other.

Kayla is trying to achieve her ultimate dream of becoming an anchor woman. When her boyfriend of three years pops the big question, Kayla runs away because that's what she does when things get tough in her life. She lands a job in the Big Apple and falls head over heels in love with Miles Blackwell. When she finds out he's the co-CEO of ETV and her Boss's brother, she tries to keep a professional relationship between her and Miles. To distract herself from her strict boss and heavy workload she goes out with some colleagues to a local bar where she meets Merrick, the sexy bartender every colleague drools over. He's sexy, fun and easy to talk to. After only a few days of knowing each other, Miles and Kayla are inseparable. When they start to get comfortable with each other an unexpected visit makes Kayla run again.

It was very easy to follow this story. I love it when we get to read from different POV's. I'll be honest and say that I usually like when the MC build an intense chemistry between them before they fall for each other. I don't really like when it takes to much time, but I'm not a fan of people falling in love super quick either. I found that Kayla and Miles fell in love too quick. Getting an ''I LOVE YOU'' after only a few days is a bit to fast for me. The person that caught my attention the most in Running From Forever is Merrick. I just loved everything about him. He was such an awesome character! I don't want to give out too much details because there is a ''Wow! What just happen?'' moment in the book that will leave you like this .... O_0 !!!! This was one of my favorite parts of the book, I love it when I get surprised!

I have to admit that at one point of the book I was expecting a different ending to this story. I was a bit sad to see that my prediction was not correct, but I was happy the same with Kayla's final decision. It did take me sometime to connect with Kayla and Miles, but once that twist in the story came along, I found the connection I was looking for.

I give Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox 3.5 enjoyable stars! I will no doubt be picking up the rest of The Forever Series, I can't wait to meet all these other characters :)

Not only she lands her dream job but she caught the attention of the rich, handsome, Corporate CEO and part-owner of ETV, Miles Blackwell. Kayla found a connection with Merrick Drake - she enjoyed talking and spending time with him. He seems perfect, because just when she needed him the most - he was there ready to lend his shoulders and ears to comfort her. They can relate to each other - both of them were runners.

I usually find runners coward, but after reading what she had been through in the past, with her mother, you'd understand why she always had the strong urge to bolt. But until when would she ran away?

Set in three parts with first person point of view from the three main characters, Ashley Wilcox treats her readers in a short, romantic, fast-paced love story that is easy on the heart. If you want another short, breather, enough to make you fall in love and make your heart beat a little bit faster, swoon a bit without needing a box of Kleenex beside you - this one is perfect!

Please note that this book is a spin-off from Waiting on Forever and therefore can be read as a standalone novel.

When I started this book I was like, “What??” who ends a 3 year relationship with a goodbye letter….well apparently Kayla Reynolds does. Kayla leaves everything for New York and a new job opportunity. And a chance to reinvent herself or is she just running? Running from her past, her reputation and life itself.

Kayla arrives in New York is eager to begin her job at ETV and pursue her dream job and may just land herself a dream man too. I mean who wouldn’t swoon for a tall, dark and sexy executive you meet in the elevator who ends up being your boss. Enter Miles Blackwell, the swoon-worthy executive and co-owner of ETV.

While trying to make friends with her co-workers Kayla joins them for “Tipsy Tuesday” at a local bar and meets Merrick. The sexy bartender that is wrapped up in nothing but muscles and tattoos.

Things progress rather rapidly between Kayla and Miles. I mean she ran away from a 3 yr relationship with Trevor and was jumping into bed with Miles all within a 2 week time period. It had me wondering if there wasn’t a little more to the story that I just wasn’t seeing.

So who does one turn to when things get too tough to handle……Merrick. It looked like maybe Merrick had some feelings for Kayla too. Their relationship was playful, their banter entertaining and their common ground, undeniable. Not being a fan of love triangles I was waiting to see where the author took this and I was pleasantly surprised.

Miles was determined to not let Kayla leave his life as quickly as she had entered it. He pulls out all of the stops to win her back. I mean is there really a time frame in which one falls in love? Could it be that sometimes when you find the “one” you just know that you no longer need to run.

This story covered a wide range of emotions for me. At first I was like, who does that? Then I was like “Well hello there!” , followed with hmmm….must be hiding something, oh no that did not just happen and YAY!

You can bet that I will be picking up “Permanent Lines” when it releases late 2013 to see where our sexy bartender Merrick ends up.

I must say another juicy and delicious novel by Ashley Wilcox! I am so glad the Forever series continued. I dont think we can let any of these characters go. For starter PLEASE DONT CHEAT YOURSELF. It is a series, and I dont care what other people say, you gotta read them all!
When the book starts it starts with the letter that our Kayla Reynolds wrote to Trevor. Believe me I was like she is cruel and heartless. You are with someone 3 years and leave a note. WOW I wish I could say that this was the only time I yelled at the book. You sort of know when you are yelling at page 2 this is gonna be a good one. Well I was NOT disappointed. My disclaimer is that YES I am a fan of "love at first sight" and instant chemistry. I know there are a lot of critical Carol's out there but they would drop dead if David Gandy got into the elevator with them, so I don't believe them. Need I remind people this is an escape, a vacation from life, a book, not the bible.

Lucky for the readers it is written in different point of views but split up. So the first part if Kayla, then Miles Blackwell and lastly Merrick. I only hope that Merrick gets a book. I also need to talk about the characters involved in each part as sub plot characters. I swear Connie, who is Miles' sister was a hoot. The author give a little back story there and it was really fascinating. Also I will add Kayla's sister, there is a story there, so I need more of her too.

Just to break up the angst thrown into the picture was the associate Sami who lures Kayla to the bar. OK so Tipsy Tuesday is a great thing and almost as good as Thirsty Thursday! Everyone gets together and quickly Kayla feel like she is part of the group.

I want you all to enjoy a very well thought out, fast moving book of angst! What a fantastic read! I know I am done, but of course I want more. Let's make this a NYT best seller! Congrats Ashley on another hit.

Kayla Reynolds was chasing her dream.

Miles Blackwell took Kayla by surprise, stealing her heart as he did.

Merrick Drake ... She and Merrick connected…on more levels than one.

When life was too much to handle, they ran.

This book is a great, well written, quick read. A feel-good romance and story of self discovery during the pivotal time in a girl's life right after college. With so many emotional tear jerker books on the market it is refreshing to read a nice, happy romance. It's like curling up with hot chocolate on a cold day. Relaxing, soothing, and enjoyable. You want to savor every delicious drop.

Kayla Reynolds is a runner. When things get tough she runs. The day after her boyfriend of three years proposes she is out the door. The big apple is calling her name. Bright lights and the big city are a great escape from the small town life Kayla has been living. NYC is the gateway to her dreams.
During the first week of a new job in the city Kayla meets Miles Blackwell, high powered CEO (and her boss's sister) along with Merrick Drake, bartender extraordinaire. Both men will play an important role in her life and perhaps one will convince her to stop Running from Forever.

The book is split into three sections - each section written in the point of view (POV) of the three main characters. I love reading male POVs. They are always enlightening and this book did not disappoint. Halfway through the book there is a major plot twist that I did not see coming. It turned the entire book around and was a great "WHAT?!?" jaw dropping moment. I loved it!

"I never believed you were lost." Smiling and nodding her head, Kayla agreed. "I know. I was just at a crossroads, but now I know the direction I need to go."

"It was because of her that I saw a life like I had never seen before, because of her that I felt love that I never knew existed."

Ashley Wilcox has made me a believer in her books. Each character was lovable and well developed. The storyline was interesting and engaging. This book earned 4 bright stars from me and I can't wait to read more in The Forever Series!

This book is the spinoff of Waiting on Forever with no prior books needed to be read before it.

Running From Forever - Ashley Wilcox (The Forever Series #5)

*Although this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone novel.

"I'm just not a fairytale ending kind of girl and deep down I think you know that" - is what Kayla writes in her goodbye letter to Trevor, her boyfriend of three years before she takes off running.

Kayla runs away to New York because she doesn't feel complete. She doesn't want the small town life that Trevor wants. She wants to feel something, she wants to feel needed and wanted. She starts off with a new job, new look and an apartment in the heart of the city. She is working for Connie, a very demanding executive boss at ETV.

On the first day she meets a very sexy man on the elevator. He is hot, smells delicious and makes her blush. She sees him again on the second day and he invites himself to Tipsy Tuesday staff drinks. His name is Miles Blackwell and he happens to be the sister of her boss and co-director at ETV. Kayla and Miles hit it off straight away and he makes her feel things she hasn't in a long time.

"Things were looking up, he was the wind in my sails and I was sailing toward a new sunset." - Kayla

He begins to pursue her, Miles is completely falling for Kayla and she is under his spell.

"My entire body was consumed by tiny little butterflies flapping their wings, taken away by Miles Blackwell" - Kayla

Kayla and Miles return home after a night out to her apartment, which she is currently sharing with her younger sister Madison. They walk into her worst nightmare unfolding before her eyes and that's when she begins to question everything she thought she knew and felt for Miles. She does what she always does - she runs. She runs to Merrick, the hot barman who serves her drinks at he local bar. Merrick is an absolute sweetheart and will do anything to protect Kayla, especially from Miles Blackwell.

Is Kayla always going to keep running or will find her forever after?

I really enjoyed reading this story. I really enjoyed Merrick and am thrilled that he is getting his own book :)

I don’t like to brag, but when the woman in a book has to decide between two male characters, I’m pretty good at knowing which one she’s going to pick. Until I read Running From Forever by Ashley Wilcox. This book kept me on my toes. Not only did I not know who Kayla would choose, Miles or Merrick, but I went back and forth between who I wanted her to be with.

Both men were equally delicious in their own way. Miles is a suave businessman who looks delicious in a tux. He is everything Kayla wants from her new life. Strong and successful, he puts Kayla first. He’s willing to take a chance on Kayla and their relationship even if those around him don’t think it’s such a good idea. Then there’s Merrick, the hot bartender who looks good in . . . well, anything. Merrick and Kayla have a connection. They share something that others wouldn’t understand. Plus he’s there for her, no questions asked, whenever she needs him. See what I mean? How could you choose between two men like that?!

Although this is Kayla’s story, I was surprised that about halfway through we begin to focus on one of the male characters (can’t tell you who, I don’t want to spoil it!). I enjoyed it because I love the character (I can already tell if he get’s his own book it may be my favorite!), but it almost felt as though it should have been it’s own book. Instead of focusing so much on the male character, I would have liked to have had a bit more time with Kayla. I thought there were a few different areas of her story that could have been expanded upon. For example, her sister and the compromising situation she was found in.

Ashley Wilcox did a great job of creating two amazing men in Running From Forever. Each one gave Kayla something she needed. But which one captured her heart (cue cheesy music)? You’ll have to read to find out!

I couldn't put this book down. I read it while baking a cake, I read it in the toilet (that's actually where I get most of my reading done these days) I even tried to sneak in a few pages while cooking (that didn't fare too well) every page was engrossing and I was desperate to find out what happens next.

Kayla Reynolds just ran from her boyfriend of 3 years and a life she was comfortable with. Afraid of commitment and settling down in a small town, she takes a dream job in the heart of New York City. On her first day she meets the enigmatic Miles Blackwell and its the beginning of a tumultuous love affair. When all is not as it seems and the pressure mounts, Kayla does what she knows best, she runs. Right into local bartender Merrick Drake. A kindred spirit, Merrick knows all about running when the going gets tough. They form a strong bond from the get go. Kayla must finally sort her emotions and decide who and what is finally worth her to stop running.

I left to start fresh in a city that didn't know me. In a city I could be myself. In a city I could stop running from my demons. A place where I didn't have to settle or pretend to be somebody I wasn't.

The story is told in 3 parts; from Kayla, Merrick and Miles. Kayla starts off a little flighty, I wasn't sure if I'd connect strongly with her. But as the story moves along, she definitely grows on you. She hasn't had an easy upbringing, and she is constantly in search of answers, her real identity. She comes to New York with the mindset of focusing on her career goals, and put her personal life on the back burner. Then she meets Miles and their chemistry is palatable. That's probably my favourite part of a good romance novel, experiencing all the emotions that come with new relationships. The butterflies, weak knees and accelerated heart rate.

3.5 Stars:
I really enjoyed this book, it was a quick easy read but it still captivated me. I was drawn to each of the main characters. Miles is the gorgeous CEO but he is witty and genuine and caring. Kayla is the new girl in town and she’s gorgeous. She is also funny and independent and honest, but she is vulnerable, too. She is my favorite kind of heroine because she doesn’t need a man to take care of her and to make her feel good, but she also knows how nice it is to have a man to love you.

“I was loose. Very loose – I had no respect for my body. To be frank, I was a slut.”

The book is sectioned off into three parts: part one is told from Kayla’s POV and was a little fast paced for my liking. She moves to New York, starts her new job and meets Miles on the elevator (cliche much?) they go on one sort-of date, have sex and fall in love. I mean seriously, SLOW DOWN!

“I don’t know what that spot’s called but as soon as he touched it, any residual worry about fucking the boss was gone.”

Part two is told from Merrick’s POV. Merrick is the insanely hot, tattooed, bad-boy bartender that becomes Kayla’s best friend. Miles messes up, BIG TIME, and Merrick is there to pick up the pieces. I loved this part of the book, probably because I loved Merrick but also because you see a different side of Kayla. With Miles Kayla is professional and perfect, but with Merrick she is crude and blunt and hilarious.

“Kayla was someone I wanted to spend all my time with- she was a breath of fresh air in my monotonous life.”

Finally, part three is told from Miles’ POV. This is the part in the book where he fights to win her back. He does some really sweet things and even makes me smile. I will admit deep down I didn’t want him to win, I wanted Merrick to win. But, I realized, as will you that the author had a different path in mind for all three of them.

“I was falling. Whether it was flat on my face of into his arms, I was falling nonetheless.”

4 Star review by Annie

Welcome to the ride of a lifetime. This book was like an amusement park rollercoaster that you just couldn't get enough of. In my mind I saw this book going one way, then halfway through I was slapped in the face with a turn. Then I thought it was headed another way, then another turn. I just couldn't figure it out. This is the first book I have read from this author, and let me tell you I was impressed!

Always running from her problems, Kayla decided she wanted to change her life. So she leaves her boyfriend of three plus years with nothing but a memory and a goodbye letter. She lands a job at an entertainment company and leaves for NYC. Starting fresh, and leaving the old Kayla and all her bad decisions behind her.

What she didn't plan on was running into the man of her dreams on day one. The problem is he is part owner and CEO of the company she works for. She tries with all her might to not fall for Miles Blackwell, but her heart has no boundaries.

When the past catches up to her, she does what she knows how to do. Run! She runs right into the arms of the local hot bartender, Merrick. Can she stop running and face her problems head on? Or does she run away from true love?

Not only do we get the hot CEO, but we also get the sexy Motorcrossing/bartender filled with tattoos and a smoking hot body. What girl wouldn't be happy? This book has a lit bit of everything to fulfill every woman's fantasy.

This was an amazing read. I loved the ending how we get a glimpse of the next book in this stand alone series. It looks like it is going to be a good one! I give this book a 4 star!

I was introduced to Ashley Wilcox a few months back, when I participated in a Blog Tour for Ashley’s book, Giving You Forever. I enjoyed her characters and writing style. So when this blog tour came open, I quickly signed up.

The format of Running From Forever, was a little difference than what I remembered from her last book. This book is broken down into 3 parts….one part for each main character in the book. We meet Kayla Reynolds, who decides to run from the life she has. She is headed to the big city, chasing a dream. We meet two men who will play a significant role in her journey…..Miles and Merrick – opposites who both have undeniable connections to Kayla, almost the moment they meet.
I will admit, at first, I was not a fan of Kayla. Her actions in the first few pages of the book really made me question her behavior. But when she met Miles, it all changed. Miles is the rich, powerful, handsome, and oh yeah, the CEO of her new employer. I loved their encounter, their banter, the quick progression of their relationship. Then there is also Merrick….he is the hot bartender at a local pub, who becomes a necessary factor in her world.

This is not your typical love triangle. Get your copy today to discover the story of a woman’s personal journey to find herself and the person she wants to be .......she may happen to find love, stability, comfort and family along the way – and in different and unsuspecting places

Running From Forever is the fifth book in The Forever Series by Ashley Wilcox. I have not read the prior book but while this is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. I enjoyed this story a lot.

Kayla moved away from her boyfriend and is learning to live in New York City. She is chasing her dream, the job she has always wanted. She is working on changing her image as she grows into the person she wants to become. She meets a man in the elevator and connects to him.

Miles Blackwell is the CEO and part owner of ETV, the place were Kayla works. He falls in loved instantly with her. Miles comes across in the beginning as a man who is used to people falling at his feet so when Kayla doesn’t it intrigues him. She sees who is underneath the fancy suit.

Merrick Drake is a bartender of a local bar as well as a dirt bike racer. Kayla connects with him in a way that she does with no one else. She can really talk to him. When Kayla is in trouble she turns to Merrick for help.

The one thing that bothered me was why did Kayla and Merrick only become friends? What did Miles have that attracted her to him and not Merrick? While its undisputed the fact that Miles loves and cares for Kayla I just saw more chemistry between Merrick and Kayla than Miles and Kayla.

Overall, this was an interesting book and one I enjoyed a lot. While this book has a slow start but once it picked up it never let go. I have never read anything by Ms. Wilcox before but I will keeping my eye out for more by her in the future.

"I'm just not a fairytale ending kind of girl and deep down I think you know that. I hope."
Kayla is a runner, when thing gets tough she jets. Kayla just graduate college and want to be more than her past self. She also didn't

Another great book by Ashley Wilcox I've been keeping an eye on her Forever Series for some time now and I really enjoy her writing. One thing I love about her series is that its all stand alone so if you didn't read the other books its ok, you'll miss nothing.

"I was officially closing one door and opening the next. I wasn't sure who or what that next door was, but my past was shut."

I loved the book. I liked how this book had more than one point of view so I got to see what was going on in not only Kaylas mind but Miles and Merrick's as well. If I had to choose a favorite character it would be Merrick he was kind, supportive and was there for Kayla when she needed him no questions asked. I wanted to slap her sister (Wanna know why? Read the book.) I also wanted to hit Miles as well, I mean he was great at first and then I wanted to hit him. If I didn't get his point of view I would probably still hate him. Now I just slightly dislike him. I loved the twist that was in the book I didn't expect it, I mean it was probably predictable to others and I should've known but I loved that I was surprised. I loved that there was also that little bit of what happened to Merrick at the end. Can't wait to see what happened in that story.

Overall I loved the book and think you will too. Highly Recommend. 5 of 5 stars.

Kayla leaves her boyfriend of 3 and a half years to take her dream job in Manhattan. She knows that accepting his proposal isn't going to make her happy and she knows that she needs to leave in order to live the life she has been working towards. She quickly finds her life full of opportunity, passion, friendship, and that good things and bad things aren't always what they seem.

This book was a pleasant surprise. It was a quick read, but the characters and story felt fully-developed. We get a pretty good idea about Kayla's past and who she is trying to be now. I loved the chance to see the story move through the three main characters' perspectives. I was sort of all over the place with my feelings for Miles, but I made and solidified my opinion after reading through his section. I have only love for Merrick- spectacular man, he is!

My only gripe is with the insta-love. I am all for instant intense attraction and a swiftly developing relationship, but I really feel that 5 days is a little soon for everyone to be busting out the L-word. Especially when one of the characters in question is experiencing some emotions that are very out of character. I also enjoyed the fast friendship between two of the characters- but again everything was just a little too quick for the bff status. Overall- I really enjoyed this, and I will be reading more by this author.
