In 2207, humanity is the dominant force in the galaxy. The Syndicate governs the humans, and its leader, Joren -- a former Marine sharpshooter -- oversees it all. When enemies attack a scientific research vessel, the SRV Maelstrom, Joren sends friend and fellow Marine Carter Therres to rescue an enigmatic and somewhat antisocial professor. The situation quickly spirals out of control, however, and soon the three men find out just how fast the mighty can fall.
Captain Carter Therres doesn't know what to expect aboard the Maelstrom, but it sure as hell isn't the gorgeous man waiting in the maintenance ductwork. Ash Mracek is unlike other men Carter has known, and the scientist's past involves something much more sinister than the Academy bombing for which he was framed. Now it's a race to save Ash -- and possibly Joren -- before their enemies can take them out of the picture for good.
Myc has been writing professionally since 2005, solo and with Shayne Carmichael. Genres include pretty much anything (no steampunk yet), though Myc is well known for paranormal stories. When not writing, Myc is usually playing PC games, reading, editing, watching movies and shows on Netflix and Amazon, or spending way too much time on Facebook.
A daring Dom Marine and a sexy submissive scientist send this science fiction story out into orbit. Dr. Ash Mracek is an anomaly in this universe. Yet, he's the only one who may be able to help save the military Syndicate run worlds from Revenants. This story is Joss Whedon's Serenity combined with Stargate Atlantis and then adds a D/s M/m twist. And oh is this added kink luscious!
The Revenants are wraith-like aliens bent on slaughter and pillaging. They exist in some kind of "dark space" which keeps them safe from the rest of the universe. Ash is close to determining how the Revenants survive in this "dark space". Captain Carter Therres is the one who goes to rescue Ash when Ash's ship is attacked by Revenants.
This is just the beginning of the world building and it is right up my alley. There are different types of aliens, conspiracies, an underdog theme and best of all – Domination and submission. The D/s in this book is hawt. Mychael Black certainly knows how to pen a hot D/s scene between two men. She could have left it with the kinky cock worshiping and restraints. Instead, she heats it up with humiliation and public exhibition. This went from smexy to blazing hot within a few pages.
Since this is just the first in the series, there are several questions left unanswered which leaves the reader lusting for more. This m/m science fiction book is recommended to kinky readers who love the threat to bare it all in public.
Dark conspiracies on a galactic scale, with some potential genetic manipulation thrown in for good measure are part of this first book in a new sci-fi series. With a pairing of a rugged soldier/captain of a spaceship and a genius-level scientist who happens to have submissive tendencies, the balance between adventure and sexy mystery is well established. I liked the well-paced revelations about what the issues might be as much as the sense of doom that seemed to hang over everything.
Ash is a geeky scientist with a dark past, an exciting but dangerous current research project, and a yearning for a hunky space soldier. He is amazingly well adapted, not like some spaced-out professors as well, and handles a gun with great aplomb and almost as well as a computer. His secret fantasies all come to life when Carter takes the lead in the bedroom.
Carter is a spaceship captain, and ex-Marine who doesn't hesitate to go into the most dangerous situations when needed. Finding a sexy scientist instead of a bone-dry researcher is a great bonus and he doesn’t hesitate to take Ash under his wing, in every sense of the word. A few surprising revelations later, Carter has his hands fuller than anticipated, but nothing fazes him and he plunges into the next mission with gusto.
If you're looking for a fun space adventure with lots of kinky sex, some dark galacto-political machinations behind the scenes, and two men who cannot help but fall for each other, then you should try this book.
I found myself completely lost within Mychael Black's Coriolis: Distress Signal. The amount of world-building alone impressed me, and I found myself enjoying it as a suspenseful sci-fi adventure with or without the sex. Black made me fall in love with characters and broke my heart all in a few pages. The gruff dialogue kept a fast pace along with the action of the story, and I am dying to know what happens next. The supporting cast was interesting and fun to meet, but the leads--a built military captain and a long-haired scientist--rightfully take center stage. Once those steamy scenes between the super sexy Captain Carter and scientist Ash began, there was no turning back. The sexual tension was mind-blowing. Even though one of these characters was submissive, both fully retained their strength and addictive male energy. I'd have taken either one home with me, but I'm afraid I'm not their type...
