What is going on with my book choices?!?!?! I need one than will emotionally destroy me now I think.....
Anyway....Command Performance
I smiled throughout this while book.....I don't know whether I was laughing with it or at it to be honest. It's not a serious book, not even slightly.
I still enjoyed myself though!!!
Did it move too quickly? YESSS!!! FAR TOO QUICKLY!!
Did it make sense? NOT REALLY!!!
Was it realistic? HELL NO!!!
Was it a little...you know...stupid? YEP!!!
Did you care? NOPE NO...more

This is the fourth and final book in the Comfort Object series. It is a series mainly because all of the characters are inter-connected. Other than that, they are four very different books.
Mason first appeared in the very first book but was not a particularly interesting character - his wife stole the spotlight. Then he was very important to the third book because we watched his marriage fall apart.

Command Performance is the fourth book in the Comfort series. In this book we see Miri and Mason. Miri is a former child star whose career has come to a screeching halt. Mason is an up and coming mega star. They find each other while filming a rape scene in a movie.

Miri is star struck by Mason and he feels a connection to her but he is quite sure she is not interested in his lifestyle. Mason is a dominant and is a moderate sadist. Miri is a sheltered young woman who knows nothing of the world M...more

In general I like Annabel Joseph's books. She does a nice job of combining romance with D/s and BDSM. This book suffered from the anticipation and expectations I allowed to build up. Joseph has a kink range from mild/medium to heavy. I prefer the books on the heavier end of kink, and after seeing Mason in Odalisque, I was expecting a heavier level of kink. This book was more on the Caressa's Knees level. It's a good book, and I enjoyed the story. I only got frustrated with the main female charac...more

I was team Mason in Book 3 of Comfort Series, don’t get me wrong, I liked Kai, but I always found Mason’s character fascinating. I was very happy to have book 4, Command Performance to be Mason’s story. The book started out great and it basically picks off where Mason’s story left off in book 3, with a lapse of 1 year. Mason is depressed, single and he wants someone in his life, however towards the middle-end, I start to get frustrated. I love tension in books, but only if the reason is...more

I'd say this is about as good as Caressa's Knees, which is one of my favorite of Joseph's books (after Firebird). I really liked that Miri was adventurous but began to look at her relationship with Mason to try to separate what she wanted and what she was doing just because it was what she thought he needed. Mason was one conflicted hero, easy to love, easy to despise. He could be so sweet and loving but during their play, I always wondered if he even saw her for his Miri or just his plaything.

Love, love, love Mason's voice. I found his masculinity, perversion and subsequently his obsession absolutely swoon worthy. There was an honesty to his character that I found to be very refreshing.
On the other hand, I found Miri to be one confused character. From conniving to innocent to love struck and then insecure and then once again in control. Thankfully, her character was redeemed in the end which allowed a very satisfying HEA.
The plot was relatively simple, with some added twists. There...more
This is my first book by Annabel Joseph...yes, I know it's book 4.
I am not a fan of BDSM, but love virgin heroines, so I couldn't resist.

Of all the Comfort Series books, this is the one that I liked the least, and that is unfortunate because Mason Cooky is my favorite of all the friends in the series. I did not like Miri Durand not even a bit. She is too insecure, self-conscious and self-pitied. And again, she is inexperienced (that is also getting old too). Nobody should be killing lions everyday just to proof their love, and that is the story line: Mason pulling through hoops to proof that he loves her. There is no depth in her...more
First of all this is an excellent series! I have enjoyed following Mason Cooke's character as well as the others. The reasoning for my rating is because in the last two books I have not really been able to catch up with Kyle and Caressa, Kyle is a big character in the first two. Also Miri's conflict with Constance was left with no resolve. I would really like to know she moved passed that and they became friends. I love this series I became attached to all the characters and I love how the author...more
Last in the series. Typical romance plot. One of the things I like most about this author's writing is her ability to portray imperfect characters with depth. Even if I don't particularly like a character, the story is written well enough that I still enjoy the book itself. I found both Mason and Miri frustrating at times. This book seemed to put more emphasis on the characters' personal struggles than on their sexual chemistry (compared to rest of series).

From the minute I met Mason in Comfort Object (my favorite of this series) I wanted to read his story. I really enjoyed Command Performance. Unfortunately, I am writing this review about 2 months after my read and am finding it hard to recall anything that really stands out to me or that effected me enough to add to this review.
knocks this one down a half star. I do recall a partner swap that had me a bit uncomfortable.

More of a 3.5. This was a good book but I kept expecting Mason to go hard core on Miri and he never did. Mason and Miri were in a relationship of convenience- he was helping with her come back and she was making him look less pervie. But almost immediately Mason realized he wanted more with Miri. But trying to have a relationship in front of the media is hard and affected their growing romance.
Bummer. This could have been excellent. Absurdly, and you're going to have to bear with me here, one of Joseph's biggest talents is making romance -- particularly BDSM romance -- THINKY. Her Mephisto series is brilliant and thoughtful and left me pondering the power exchange dynamic for a long time afterward.
Here, she takes a more typical romance (ugh, with a Hollywood couple, BEAR WITH ME) and takes it WAY past the happy ever after into the real stuff, which could have been SO GOOD. Relationshi...more

The tried and true formula for a romance book is what makes Command Performance a must-read for us romance addicts. This 4th book of the Comfort Series is different from the first 3 in that it's not nearly as heavy on BDSM and it's more about an emotional connection between characters. For this reason, I like it more than the first 3 books and highly suggest reading all 4 in the series.
I really disliked this book.
The main character's were one-dimensional - a bad boy actor who loves kink and is self-centered, and a virgin ex-child-star trying to revive her career by dating a bad boy. The dialogue was uninspiring.
I did not finish it.....the first time ever for a loaner.

Another one hit out of the park by Annabel Joseph. Warm familiar characters, painfully real drama, and some of the best erotic BDSM writing I've seen. Ms Joseph is still one of my favorite authors.
I suppose if someone put a gun to my head and forced me to come up with one critique, it would only be the feeling of slight disjointedness near the end. Won't mention place marks due to spoilers but, it's minor and the story as a whole, including HEA, makes up for it, in my humble opinion. Well done!...more

Annabel Joseph is a multi-published BDSM erotic romance author. She writes mainly contemporary romance, although she has been known to dabble in the medieval and Regency eras. She is recognized for writing emotionally intense BDSM storylines, and strives to create characters that seem real--even flawed--so readers are better able to relate to them.
