Review: It’s such a wonderful thing when you find a great author you’ve never read before. This book was terrific. I love recovery stories, and this novel had well-written characters with the perfect combination of emotion and sorrow with passion and romance. We’re introduced to Sophie as she’s released from the hospital after a horrible crash and brought home to an unwanted party. Standing alone in a room full of her friends and family simply wanting to be alone to mourn broken life, she is shocked and guilty when she feels a spark for Trevor.
Her family and friends mean well, but Trevor can see right through her carefully built façade of “I’m fine”. Trevor encourages her to paint again. When her paintings start selling at his art gallery, she starts to feel alive again. She still feels guilty about her growing feelings and physical attraction towards Trevor, and Trevor is hurt deeply to see she hasn’t let go of her dead husband. This romance book shows how Sophie is able to let go and find love and a family again.
One thing I’m disappointed in… her characters were well-written. So well-written, I want to know what happens with her sister Claire and Trevor’s partner Marcus. I liked both of them, and wish there had been more wrap-up with Claire’s story. I hope Scarlett Scott writes Marcus a book next.

Sophie's anguished emotions really show in the book. Reprieve is the story of Sophie coming to terms with what she lost and learning how to go forward. I enjoyed this story for the most part. Through about half of the book, I really disliked Trevor's character. I know he was hurt by something, but that was no excuse for him to be so blatantly cold and rude to Sophie. Some of the things he said were harsh and horrible, and Sophie shouldn't have taken that. That's the only downfall I felt in this book. If you enjoy heart wrenching emotional stories, then don't miss Scarlett Scott's Reprieve. Prepare yourselves, readers, for your emotions might get the best of you throughout this story
This book was absolutely AH-MAZING! Typically, when I cannot put a book down, I get aggravated when I have to; however, as I waited to finish this book, I just became more and more hooked! Now, I don't normally recommend books from sites such as goodnovel, for I feel like an individual end up paying more in coins then the book is actually worth; BUT for this story and the way it draws you in, I will make an exception!! 😍😍
I love most everything by Scarlett Scott, but I just couldn’t get into this series. I guess because I know what it’s like to experience loss and I feel like her family downplayed it in this book. It just didn’t seem like a real scenario. Very good writing tho even tho the storyline doesn’t fit my tastes.
Sophie lost her husband and daughter 2 years before and she was living day by day. But one day it got to be much and she got into her own accident. Trevor saved her. He tried being her friend and then offered to sell her art. But something connected between them.
Scarlett Scott is mt all time favorite author!! I have read every one of her historical novels and this was my first modern one and it did not disappoint!! Her characters are written wonderfully, along with the plots! I loved Sophie and Trevor's story!
