Spoilers

-Just read for the story, Last Request, I've already read everything else in the volume.

-Set two years after Kaylee's supposed death. To get Tod out of his grief/depression, Nash talks him into tracking down evul-soul-stealing-reaper-Thane so they can get back Kaylee's mother's soul.

-Tod/Nash's POV were really similar, I had to keep checking who was narrating… They were both supposed to be vastly different characters yet they sounded exactly the same.

-I enjoyed Tod/Nash's banter, they had quite a cute relationship. I actually even somewhat liked Nash. In the main series he was a whiny, selfish, loser but in this he was a pretty decent guy.

-I was pissed the Thane arc was unresolved in the main series, I'm glad he finally got dealt with in this, he deserved to suffer after all the douchey things he did.

-I liked Sabine up until her pathetic declaration about her whole world revolving around Nash and how without him she might as well be dead. It was unbelievably lame how she had no life outside of Nash, she was so needy and weak when it came to him. Her love for him was made even more pathetic by the fact that Nash nowhere near loved her as much as she did him. Also, it's obvious that if she died he would eventually move on, forget about her, and find love elsewhere… But if Nash were to die, Sabine would kill herself because she's nothing without her pwecious boyfriend. Ugh.

-The best thing about Last Request was whenever someone bitched about Kaylee being such an annoying effing martyr, it was pretty funny. It's weird that someone like Tod could ever love such an insufferable, do-goody, martyr like her.

All in all, an entertaining enough read.

I do NOT have an early copy of this book but I had already read all previous stories and I got the chance to read LAST REQUEST early. And I did end up re-reading WAMS today.

Just have to say that "Last Request" was an amazing story and the perfect way to say a final goodbye to the series and its characters. It made me smile. It also made me bawl. Even though I knew how this series ended in WAMS, Author Rachel Vincent could still break my heart.

For fear of revealing any spoilers, I won't say anything other than I loved it. It couldn't have been more perfect.

Volume Four contains:

˙ With All My Soul (Soul Screamers #7) - full-length novel

+3 novellas:
˙ Fearless
(a prequel novella from Sabine's POV) - previously published in the Kiss Me Deadly anthology, but with a new ending

˙ Niederwald (a novella from Sabine's POV, set between My Soul To Steal and If I Die)- previously published in the Enthralled anthology

˙ Last Request - A BRAND-NEW NOVELLA from Nash's and Tod's POV, set NOT AFTER THE 7th book but it's rather a part of book 7 just from a different POV

__________________________________________

Let me start with a question:
Have you read the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent?

If yes:

If not:

If you haven't read this series yet, you're seriously missing out! I've read many paranormal books, I've read many Young Adult paranormal books, but let me tell you: NONE OF THEM WERE AS AMAZING AS THIS SERIES!

The Soul Screamers books are really unique, intriguing but here are a few warings before reading them.
Be careful because these books will:
- make you obsessed
- make you laugh
- make you cry
- grab you from line one and won't let you go until you read the last page

I've read all the seven books already, so I mostly picked up Volume Four for its brand-new novella, Last Request. I was surprised to see that I haven't read Fearless either, so I was happy to read that one as well. I also read the third novella even if I've read that one before.

All three of them were amazing, but I'm gonna write longer about Last Request.

LAST REQUEST:

I missed Tod and Nash terribly! I was so happy to read this novella from their POV I almost burst into tears. It was like seeing my friends after a long time.

Oh, TOD...Be still, my beating heart!

I missed his sarcasm! I missed his humor. I missed everything about him. In this short novella he managed to make me laugh and cry like a baby. I loved it!

Before I started reading I thought this novella would take place after the last book and I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't. But I loved it anyway (of course!).

After finishing all the novellas I needed to read the ending of With All My Soul one more time and it was just as perfect as when I read it a year ago.

Thank you for this experience, Rachel Vincent!

***** 5 HUGE stars for this Volume and the whole series *****

Last Request is set between the second to last and last chapters of With All My Soul. We get to see Tod and Nash's point of view, how they are moving on with thier lives and what has changed since the incident. I really enjoyed the shop part of Last Request and the consequences of it..I may have literally laughed out loud at one point or another.

Merged review:

Going into Fearless I know what happens, having finished this series several years ago. But a recent reshuffle of my bookshelves found me picking up volume four in the Souls Screamers collection, and realising that although I thought I had finished this series, I still had a few novellas to read.

Sabine was someone who I hated with a passion, I disliked her attitude and the way she had to interfere with things between Nash and Kaylee. But I think by the time I ended this series my opinions had changed about her. Reading Fearless gives me the chance to see where all that anger and hatred came from, and why she made it so hard for me to like her.

For those who have yet to venture into this world (I ask what are you waiting for) Sabine is a Mara, capable of reading people's fears, and feeding off them as they dream. The beginning of Fearless sees Sabine being placed in yet another home, with the warning that this is her final chance, mess up again and end up in the juvenile correctional complex, which is basically the same as hell. Holser House, a place for troubled teens is sure to be a feast for a Mara, but a few days into her stay Sabine finds out its not as much as a feast, it's more of a famine. Something is wrong with the girls and she is determined to find out what it is.

Fearless was just as good as I remember this series to be. I really liked seeing Sabine away from Nash, Tod, and Kaylee and how she is just as feisty as ever. I liked the progression of this story and the ending of this explains some history from the Soul Screamers series. I will admit, that after reading Fearless and seeing what Sabine goes through towards the end of the book, I can see where her resentment and possessiveness comes from...and it may be partly justified.

*SPOILERS FROM THE SERIES*

“I love you. I will love you until the sun devours the earth and takes us all to a fiery grave, and when that happens, the last word on my lips will be your name.”

'Last Request'

I actually waited a long time to read this novella, almost a year.
The main reason is I wasn't ready to be completely done with the series, heck, I'd be happy reading all the deleted scenes and new extras from this series if they were to become available. *hint hint*

Soul Screamers is my all time favorite YA series, I adore it, so it was incredibly nice to have a novella from Nash & Tod's POV, specially with how much I love those two.
Last Request takes place in the time frame within the final book, With All My Soul, and I loved it.
I felt excitement when I started reading, knowing that even though it was a novella, it would be great and would so meet my expectations.
It's obviously bittersweet and I'm not lying when I say I cried knowing this was it, the final goodbye, but it was so great to smile, laugh and even cry while reading.
I wish this had been longer, but I can always reread when I want.

First things first, here’s my review for With All My Soul.

I’ve been waiting for this book to arrive, but it seems it made a detour it went to a different country! (What were you doing in Malaysia, book?!) Oh the agony of waiting to read the last novella of one of my all-time favorite series was filled with nail-bitingly anxiety. But it arrived, today, and I went into isolation and devoured this bad-ass like the hellion of wrath gobbled Avari’s perpetual anger. Ah, where was I, oh yes, the novella: Last Request was probably the reason why I wanted to read this book. I’m not really big novella fan. I’m very selective of what I want to read. But this one which highlighted the Hudson’s brothers, as my sister aptly termed, “bro-moment” meant a must read in my watch. The novella happened the first two years of Kaylee’s absence (which was a result of a deal she made me with the two hellions, so yes, good folks read the last book. It’s very important!). And Tod, OMT—oh my Tod, oh my gorgeous Tod (how I miss the sarcasm) was having hard time dealing with the loss. Let’s rewind a bit, remember his speech with all the sun and darkness so without his sun (means Kaylee), he was losing the will to continue. But Nash coerced him to do what they thought Kaylee’s last request: to free her mother’s soul (and in connection will free her father's, too). Nash got a lead and this helped them traced the people who was responsible for her mother's abducted soul. To cut it short, they succeed. But that’s not the best part, it was Tod and Nash’s moment that made the waiting worth it.

Dead, alive, or somewhere in between, you’re my brother. The only one I have. I need you. I want you in my life. – Nash

I know they already had some closure in With All My Soul, but this forged it stronger than that. With Tod’s will almost fading, the only people that anchored him was his mom, and of course his baby brother (which is not a baby anymore. How did Sabine get lucky again?! Yes, I’m bitter, people, because Nash deserves better than her!) digressing aside, the conversation at the end was so good it nearly brought me to tears. Seriously, these two not only have to-die-for gorgeousness (sorry for the pun) but their sibling bond was just emotional and admirable, relationship drama withstanding.

You could feel Tod’s agony dripping from the book and way into your heart while reading the last page. He was really lost so if you’re a hard core Tod+Kaylee fan and you read his promise to Kaylee, man swoon, I tell you. SWOON! Then tears! He was pouring his soul there for the woman he loves. But once you read the last page of the novella, you will have the urge to reread (I did reread With All My Soul again, so sorry review copies! #iregretnothing) the last few page of With All My Soul so it can appease your aching heart for Tod that the guy did have a good ending with Kaylee. They all did!

“Just one more time. I would give up the rest of my afterlife for the chance to hold you one more time.” — Tod

"If you're a reaper, how'd you do...that?"
My brother grinned at her, and his irises shifted in slow swirls of satisfaction and amusement. "How did I reduce you to a pile of cougar goo?" She glared over his phrasing, but I laughed out loud. "Well, I had help." Tod extended one arm toward me, and I bowed, taking credit for my part of our performance. "And you are looking at the reaper voted most likely to make women wish they could see death coming, two years running."

So Tod and Nash's bromance was just perfect :') And I'd forgotten how much I missed their brilliant humour! Gah, that ending broke my heart though :'(

I was so glad I could just flick back to With All My Soul and read Tod and Kaylee's reunion - helped ease the pain his speech to her gravestone left at the end of that last novella! *cries*

All in all, the perfect final volume to a fantastic series that I would recommend to anyone and everyone ♥

This is a bind up of the final book in the Soul Screamers series With All My Soul and an additional three novellas: Fearless, Niederwald, and Last Request.

With All My Soul (Soul Screamers #7)

I am incredibly satisfied with the ending to this series. I think Vincent managed to wrap everyone's story line up incredibly well. This final book focus on Kaylee and her friends as they try to get rid of the threat of Avari for good.

I really enjoyed the character development and how we got to resolve some things between certain characters that have been plaguing some of the relationships for quite a few books now. However, I think what I really enjoyed about this novel the most was finally seeing Kaylee step up and do what needed to be done.

If I had any complaint at all it would be that I would want to see more of everyone's lives at the end of the book. Overall though, a very good end to this series.

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Fearless (Soul Screamers #0.4)

This novella takes place a year before My Soul to Lose and focuses on the relationship between Nash and Sabine. I've never been the biggest fan of Sabine's character but I did enjoy the deeper insight into Sabine's personality. I also enjoyed seeing exactly how her abilities worked from her point of view.

Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Niederwald

This is a very short novella (only about twenty pages) in Sabine's PoV. The novella takes place between My Soul to Steal and If I Die and focuses on Sabine and Emma who make a pit stop in Nierderwald, Texas. This was a nice short little adventure to read, and although I didn't particularly care for another novella from Sabine's PoV it was still enjoyable.

Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Last Request (Soul Screamers #7.5)

This final novella in the volume actually takes place during With All My Soul two years after The novella switches PoV's between Nash and Tod and it focuses on both of the brother's trying to get Kaylee's mom's soul back from the rouge reaper Thane so that Kaylee's dad can finally have peace. I liked getting a chance to see Tod's PoV and how he was dealing with thinking I also enjoyed seeing a lot of the characters grown up and move on with their life. Overall, it was a nice short read and it brought some closure to a question that had gone unanswered at the end of With All My Soul.

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I finally finished this series. Normally, paranormal isn't really my style but this one is so different from most paranormal books. The characters are so great.

This last book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Out of the short stories, the Sabine prequel one was probably my favorite. It's hard to believe I once hated her.

With All My Soul - This was a great ending to this series. I'm happy with how it ended. I was surprised at how the conflict was resolved; it was slightly shocking to me. I did shed a little tear when the story was being wrapped up and it showed everyone in their (hopefully) happily ever afters. The only negative (not enough to bring down my stars though) is that Kaylee is too much of a martyr sometimes and can be too impulsive/quick to act. But in the end it all worked out . Sad to see the series end, but I'm glad it ended before getting too ridiculous and long. 5 stars.

Fearless - A short story in Sabine's perspective, when she and Nash were first dating, before Tod died and Nash met Kaylee. It actually helped me sympathize more with her. She's a tough character to like IMO, but this story helped. 4 stars.

Niederwald - A short story, again from Sabine's POV. She and Emma went to a tiny town in Texas, populated by harpies and an oracle. I didn't see the purpose of this short story until I read the next one, Last Request. It was interesting, but eh, coulda lived without it. 3 stars.

Last Request - Told alternately by Tod and Nash, it takes place during a 4 year time lapse in With All My Soul. Here be spoilers for With All My Soul; if you haven't read it yet stop reading!!!

You've been warned.

Tod and Nash go on a quest to fulfill Kaylee's last mission she was never able to accomplish , specifically, finding her mother's soul and releasing it, so her father can get the missing part of his soul back and be able to move on from losing her mother. This is where the town of harpies and the oracle from Niederwald come back into play, since that is where Kaylee's mother's soul is located. This was a good story. It was interesting to see both Nash's and Tod's POV, . The only thing I felt was missing, was actually seeing Kaylee's dad and if getting that missing part of his soul back made a difference. There was no mention of it either in this short story or at the end of With All My Soul. 4 stars.

This is the only series that stands out in my mind as having become more and more wonderful as it neared the end.
I grant this mainly to the change in Todd's role, because frankly Todd may have been the reason I ever started loving this series.
I highly recommend that, if you are going to read the original Soul Screamers book, be prepared to read them all. (If that sounds like too much to you then, really, don't even bother)

All I really have to say is that the ending was beautiful and distressing and so much more than I ever expected the first book to lead up to.

I absolutely love the entire Soul Screamers Series.. The characters were perfect: Tod was my favorite his cocky smartass personality fit his character to a T , Kaylee is selfless , Sabine isn't afraid to say what she's thinking or feeling, all the characters different personalities along with the story were perfect. It made me laugh and it made me cry but most of all it made me not want to put any of the books in this series down and I hope there will be another.

So this is going to be a somewhat mini review of both Fearless and Last Request in Rachel Vincent's final volume of the Soul Screamers series. Soul Screamers Volume 4 has With All My Soul, Fearless, Niederwald and Last Request in it. I've read With All My Soul when it first came out and even read Niederwald when I was reading the Enthralled anthology. I basically HAD to OWN this one due to this brand new novella to the series and it was definitely worth it! Plus, pretty cover!!

So basically I read Fearless and Last Request in this one. In Fearless, we get to meet Sabine before she ever came to Texas and cause a little chaos for Kaylee's life. I remember back then not quite liking her. I didn't like her coming between Nash and Kaylee. Of course I got over that once things started to pick up between Kaylee and Tod! Sabine could have Nash!

Anyway, in this story we see what her life was like when she went to a halfway house for troubled teens. All girls in this one. Sabine isn't the type to change herself for the better, because she's already the best she's going to be. But cooperating will at least get her some good marks so she can later be free and be with Nash. Plus, the halfway house has like twenty teen girls she could feed from during the night.

But strangely, these girls don't have fears. No nightmares for her to feed off of, which in turn starts to make her weak. She doesn't really plan to solve the mystery, but when the trouble finds her and plans to make her life a living hell, well, it's game on. Because no one messes with Sabine!

Fearless was truly enjoyable as we, once again, get to see that side to Sabine that we didn't see when we first met her in the Soul Screamers books. She seemed cold and heartless then, but knowing her story behind her behaviors really allows you to feel sympathy for her. Sabine really is a sort of lost girl who just wants someone who loves her. And Nash is that someone for her. For in this story, they are still together. I like that at the end of this one, we kind of tie into the events of Reaper. Basically the aftermath and learning that Tod has died. It was a great story.

In Last Request, we finally get Nash's point of view! The first and last time it seems. Nash has to convince Tod to help him in finding Kaylee's mom's soul. It's been two years since Kaylee died, permanently and Tod is still grieving and pretty much has opted to give up on life. Nash pretty much twists Tod's arm into helping him, because Nash knows that this would make Kaylee happy.

So the two brothers join together and track down Thane, the one that started all the hell and chaos in their lives, in order to get him to tell them where Kaylee's mother's soul is. And they basically wind up in the Little Shop of Horrors! When Thane proves to be most unhelpful, but for a minor clue. The brothers then find themselves in Niederwald, Texas, the town that really isn't a town. Sound familiar? Yup, the boys go back to the house of harpies that Emma and Sabine once visited in order to find what they are looking for.

I won't lie, I got a little misty eyed at the end of this one. Remember, it's only been two years since Kaylee died. Tod doesn't know yet, what we know. But just remembering the ending to With All My Soul did bring a smile to my face, except, at the end of this one, Tod is still sad. It was heart-rendering to see. But I did enjoy this one! I liked seeing the brothers working together and being brotherly towards one another. Tod still has his same spark that he's always had and I love that about him. What makes this story great, is knowing all it all ends, truly, in the final chapter of With All My Soul. Good times!

I bought and read the Soul Screamers series as it was released and refused to buy the fourth omnibus just to get two novellas that were included with the final book in the series. Thankfully those novellas are now available on Audible. Squee!

Last Request took place after Kaylee's death in With All My Soul, is considered book #7.5, and is from both Nash and Tod's POV. It was a great novella. The humorous moments were needed to balance out Tod's palpable heartache. I'm soooo glad I finally got to read the last thing written in the Soul Screamers world. It was worth waiting for. Now on to Sabine's prequel novella, Fearless.

Merged review:

I know many didn't like her, but I loved Sabine in the Soul Screamers series. It was great to finally get to read Fearless without having to buy the fourth Soul Screamers Omnibus or the anthology it was originally released in. I wasn't expecting this or the novella, Last Request, to ever be available as standalone reads so I was excited when I found them on Audible.

Fearless is a prequel novella that takes place when Sabine and Nash were dating the first time. In other words, way before Kaylee ever came into the picture. It's considered Soul Screamers book #0.4. I enjoyed finally getting something from Sabine's POV, getting more insight into her "skill", and learning about her super rare heritage. Honestly, I wish I had gotten more of the Mara, but I'm thankful that we at least got Fearless. It was a great, fastaced, little read.
