I’d enjoyed her other books before, so knew I was in for another gorgeous, funny, romantic read but she even surpassed my expectations this time. All characters felt really rounded and the will-they won’t-they relationship of Harriet and Wyn is heart-achingly addictive. The dreamy setting makes it a perfect beach read and even made the three hour delay to my 11pm flight actually enjoyable. I just read all night, laughing at Emily’s funny one-liners, hooked by Cleo, Sabrina and Harriet’s heart warming friendship and completely caught up in Harriet and Wyn. I’d not only recommend Happy Place to anyone who’d listen, I’d recommend Emily and all her other books too. This was charming cosy crime mystery, full of quirky, witty heroines and clever, cantankerous bad guys. The book really delivered on the intricacies of the crime itself, which I can’t describe here without spoilers, you’ll just have to trust me that it’s very much worth it! There’s plenty for eagle-eyed crime readers to unpick and many suspects to accuse. Though the pace slowed a little at times for me, this read is sure to delight cosy readers and is spot on for fans of the genre and The Thursday Murder Club series. The narrator, Nicolette McKenzie, brought each character to life and made the story thoroughly engaging. Constanta’s voice was engaging and I was keen to hear what happened next at each stage of her enthralment and disillusion with her master. I really enjoyed it and it’s a solid, captivating read. The only thing that I felt was missing was some more suspense. In the beginning extracts, the reader finds out that Constanta kills Dracula, which took the power out of climax for me - as I knew the others would escape his imprisonment and successfully kill him. If the reader hadn’t known the outcome, I think it would have made the outcome even more gripping! Huge thanks to the author, S.T. Gibson and publisher, Little,Brown, for this advance review copy. It read like a female Dexter meets Gossip Girl set in London - and it was fantastic. Kitty is a character to obsess over. Her journey made for a fun read where you find yourself rooting for a trendy insta-famous murderess and I devoured the pages to see what she’d do next. The book was peppered with funny one-liners and a full cast of side characters with their own wants, desires - and dark secrets. Although I guessed some of the twists, I didn’t catch all of them and it didn’t hamper my thorough enjoyment of the story one bit. The ending delivered too, which isn’t always the case with thriller reads. I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to any crime fans, Killing Eve lovers and - to be honest - anyone looking for a true page turner featuring a strong female lead. I can’t wait to dissect Kitty’s grey moral compass with my book clubs and see what the author comes up with next. I loved all of the characters, Marra was relatable and well meaning as she tried to puzzle out a confusing magical world and kingdom politics. I adored the dust wife, Agnes and Fenris (and all assorted pets, both bone and feathered) I’d definitely recommend it to my friends as I’ve never been so terrified yet utterly delighted with a book before! It’s a perfect romance and I would (and already have) recommended it to friends who also gobbled it up over a weekend and loved it too. If you’re a romance fan don’t hesitate to grab this read. And if not, give it a try anyway, it’s really a thoroughly enjoyable and uplifting read - I chuckled and swooned throughout. I expected a good war fiction novel, with the unique perspective the blurb offered - and that’s exactly what I read. It was horrifying to learn about the baby farms during ww2 (something I hadn’t come across before) and how the Norway fisherwomen and men contributed to the resistance and fought back against German occupation. It was fascinating to see the war through Rumi’s eyes and how it devastated her and her family. Where she got the energy and will to fight back amazes me. It sounded like an incredibly difficult time and Mandy really captures the period and struggles her characters went through. I’d recommend it to anyone who is a fan of historical fiction, especially ww2 war fiction told through an interesting perspective I hadn’t come across before. I expected an intriguing crime novel with some good twists, but The Maid proved to be so much more than that. I’ve not loved a book with such a special main character like this, since I read Mark Haddon’s Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and felt thrilled to read and experience the world through Molly’s eyes. Especially something so intense as an investigation. The author really captured Molly brilliantly and I was completely taken with her protagonist, the plot and the outcome - I absolutely had to know what would happen to Molly and how she would cope in the dangerous situation she found herself in. It really was a damn good read and I adored it. I’d recommend it to fans of Curious Incident and anyone who’s looking for a crime novel that really has that unique edge and fantastic twists and turns to boot. Nita really knows how to write a cracking crime novel.

I expected this book to be uplifting and, with its hooky premise, to have some good twists and turns on Jen’s dating journey - and I wasn’t disappointed! I chortled my way through and enjoyed the cast of characters I met along the way. What I particularly loved was Jen’s sense of humour and great one liners. She was a warm, appealing protagonist and the ending had some satisfying developments too. I’d recommend it to any romance reader who’s also looking for an uplifting, funny read.

I expected (and needed) an uplifting romance, with realistic relatable characters and a meet-cute with a difference - which is exactly what I got! The notes in the window were a sweet addition to this story and the side characters were as wonderful (shout out to Patrick and the team at Bright Hill Garden centre) as the villain was cunning. I loved that Bethan’s position as a single mother and Lachlan’s injury were handled with care, whilst really revealing a lot of the ups and downsides of their respective struggles. Bethan and Lachlan’s journey is well worth a read any romance lovers and I’d really recommend it to anyone needing a boost right now! Also the narrators were sensational, completely brought the characters to life - so a double recommend for the audio version.
