Henry Ford sought out and befriended John Burroughs in the early 1910s. The wealthy industrialist and the naturalist -- a seemingly odd pair -- shared a love of birds and nature. Though there were philosophical differences -- Burroughs had little use for the automobile -- both developed a mutual respect for each other and created a lasting friendship.
