I like very well all what she has said. But I would like more on critics.By this I will understand better not only the message or messages that the book carries but also have an idea of the historical backgroung on which she based her self to write this book. But thanks give to her after all because of these great effors she is making to help us understanding many things on history.I hope she will continue on doing so.

I'm never reading another one of her's again. If she's going to write about history she should probably know some history.

Sarah Vowell talks about the famous sermon that inspired her to write about the Puritans in The Wordy Shipmates.

"whilst there; put together how Pearl Harbor was attacked for being an American territory precisely because Americans and their offspring had overthrown the Hawaiian monarchy and turned the islands over to the United States;"
Really? Give me a BREAK! That sentence turned me off reading any of Vowell's 'books'!
