Katharine Definitely Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt. I can't shut up about this book. I recommend it to everyone.
Another book that would make a great play, but maybe not so much on Broadway as in children's theatres, would be The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. I can't shut up about Ivan, either. It's a book everyone needs to read, children and adults alike.

Robyn Markow I think many of Anne;Rice's books VC books(Like "Interview With A Vampire" )would lend themselves well to being musicals.;She also did a non VC Book called "Cry To Heaven'a about a boy singer in Italy who becomes a Castrati For those unfamiliar w/that term (which I don't think I spelled correctly )it's when they would Castrate young boys in order to keep their voices high. Luckily it isn't done anymore(the book takes place in the 17th Century) But it was a fascinating story that dealt with the Opera World as the singer grows up, & becomes big star. He also and fails love w/a woman who loves him in spite of his being Castrati. I wouldn't include any scenes of how they did that procedure though!

Julie R To Sir With Love would make a good musical. A lot of opportunities for some good dance numbers and songs. Could give a chance to some talented teen actors who are interested in musical theater. I also agree that To Kill a Mockingbird or A Time to Kill would make good stage plays.

Kaylen I think that The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton would make a great rap and hip-hop musical. Of course, it would have to be done really well (and if anyone could write a good hip-hop/rap, it's Lin-Manuel Miranda). ;-)
