Nothing has quite lived up to the first story. I'm enjoying the world though, and some stories have been great. The non-fiction chapters were a surprise and I'm mostly uninterested.

I enjoyed the second non-fiction piece more, though I'm not used to reading about history without footnotes and references.

I can't think of the term, if there is one, but I'd describe the first story as the opposite of heavy handed. There's no obvious, stated lesson, but there was still depth to the story. This is an inadequate distillation of what I mean.
