Lyndsey We will see.

I am, however, curious about this: "P.S. The Query Letter Hell post was created BEFORE I knew I was scammed and it was an automated post; that was NOT me retracting that I was scammed. It has since been deleted."

Since I didn't see that post, I'm wondering what it actually said.

Steve Cordero LOL, Lindsey, if I was accused of anything, I wouldn't want you on my jury.

I saw that post earlier because I was looking to see if she had posted anything on it.

It mentioned she was repped by Jodi when discussing matters of querying an agent.

Tnh Why might there have been uncoordinated responses from WH? They're not exactly a one-room agency, and this will have been a confusing situation for them. There aren't a lot of companies that have contingency plans in place that anticipate having some unknown person sending spoofed emails purportedly from them to third parties.

Hacked vs. spoofed: The world is full of people who don't know the difference, have no idea how either happens, and have never seen their full email headers.

Lyndsey, I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors.

Ahh, I see. Thanks.

Welp, this was a fun discussion but my skeptical brain is telling me I should have some lunch now. Maybe afterward, it will be more optimistic.

Tnh, maybe it's my grumbly tummy, but my sarcasm meter is broken right now and I'm having trouble figuring out if your "best wishes" were sincere or not. Regardless, I didn't to offend mean anyone by being skeptical.

John Egbert I'm just glad everything is cleared up now, and that we've been informed so others don't fall into the same trap. I have made out a scenario in my head of a sociopath who crushes other's dreams for enjoyment, but I still can't seem to wrap my head around it.

Tnh Lyndsey, lunch sounds like an excellent idea.

Severus @121, if your scenario involves vindictive failed writers who are gratuitously cruel to aspiring writers because they're still working and hoping, go to AW and read the back threads about the three founders of PublishAmerica. If you can't find what you're looking for, ask one of the locals about the era when PA sent "How dare you take that tone" letters to their authors.

The internet hasn't increased the incidence of human evil. It's just given it more range and scope.

Maria To be honest personally even if I got such an email I would not give it 5 seconds and discard it immediately, let along dedicate any of my energy to getting excited and shouting it from the rooftops (I think that's the phrase) or as it were in this case "cyberspace". Some would call me jaded and over-cautious and that may be the case. But I'm very much an "Unbelieving Thomas" and will only trust in palpable things and face to face official encounters when it comes to business. I guess it's better to be too terrified of failure, embarrassment and public ridicule of any sorts directed at yourself than not being scared or cautious against it at all... and that's all I'll say regarding this whole um mess should I call it?.. o.O

Hello everyone.

I'm Aaronni Miller and I'm the person who was scammed. I know it's very easy to say "I'd do this" or "I'd do that" in the situation I was in, but I implore you to think before you make those assumptions.

Either way I'm glad my name is cleared and to all the people who talked about me; I forgive you and I hope you never know the pain I felt from this.

Sincerely,

Aaronni Miller

You mistake me; I made this comment to the people who talked about me badly. If you spoke about the situation lightly then it wasn't referencing you.

Sincerely,

Aaronni
