I am currently trudging through this book, but I have to say the realization Bastien had. Seriously, Bastien? Just one look at the Lady of the Vale and you suddenly know the big plot twist of this book? With no build-up or thoughts beforehand about it?
Hm. Mkay.

I'm wondering at this point where is the plot?
I mean you could argue that it is Bastien trying to become human again, but there is very little that drives or pushes this. And it's not that this book is bad, I'm still loving Ahdieh's writing and I will finish the book. But I feel like the slow-burn book worked best for book 1 and not this one

Surprisingly I am not leaving this book totally in the dust while I am still reading Sword Catcher

Spoiler alert: not that many

The real question is how much farther will I get into this book before I start Swordcatcher tomorrow and it takes up all my reading for the next few days

I find it really interesting that we have only followed Bastien and Odette's POVs, when in The Beautiful we mainly followed Celine. This is giving me some hope that we will learn a lot more about the worldbuilding of the vampires in this series
