(454/454) I’ve finished! Stepmother died after made their peace. Apparently she was the one cooking with Shiori in her memories. Her brothers ain’t cranes no more. She has to return these fucking pearls to their dragons. I like Shiori’s & Takkan’s relationship. The brothers r kinda slay tho. Then there’s wolf, who will be a problem in the next book I guess. Idk about no brothers in the next book.

(420/454) wtf why do I love it more now? The bowl is gone, her magic is back. She needs to fix the whole her brothers are cranes thing tho. Yuji was killed off. His little apprentice or whatever turned into a demon. It was revealed that the stepmother only ever was trying to protect them. “Poison can be a medicine is disguise” type deal. Shiori got dragged to the holy mountains. Where’s the dragon?(next book?)

(386/454) PLOT TWIST! Her stepmother was just trying to protect Shiori for being killed due to the fact that her magic has the power to unleash the demons in the Holy Mountains. Her weird ass servant was a priestess from the mountains! Now I kinda like the stepmother… actually no. I’m conflicted. She can’t speak because her brothers will DIE is fucking mean. The story makes much more sense w/ this reveal.

(372/454) Zairena was a little killer assassin creature. Kiki found out when some gold ink turned black. Also Shiori and Takkan shared a moment.

(357/454) Takkan saw Shiori with her crane brothers. It was fun for me to read about him analyzing the odd situation. Also the chef was the killer. Damn. Never thought that’d be the case. I thought it would be the weaving orphan whose name starts with a Z. Also the dragons r reasonably pissed at her. The crane brothers mocking her crush on Takkan(her betrothed) was fucking hilarious.

(312/454) Zairena is suspicious. She’s just off. I’m not buying the whole turning into an orphan changes a person act. She’s up to something. DRAGON 🐉. COME SOONER, SPRING. Also will they fight the step mother in the next book? What’s happening there? I’m 2/3 into the book and not much has progressed curse wise.

(301/454) I want a reveal scene. DRAGON, COME BACK.

(279/454) I kinda ship Shiori and Takkan. Her curse is so sad tho. I want a reveal or a dragon meetup. Good thing she learned how to fight and cook on this adventure. Now she can be her own person if push comes to shove. THE DRAGON. COME BACK. How’s she gonna use the spindle, tho?

(237/454) Takkan is back and regaining strength! Shiori is being moved out of the cellar and into an actual room.
