I was doing so well on my 16 pages a day to finish at the end of May but then I was unable to read for 2 weeks. Currently reading as much as I can when I can to attempt to catch up.

Still loving it mostly but struggling with some of the war parts. It feels like I’m rushing on a rollercoaster, the momentum building and then it stops and the war parts take a long time to get through. Still enjoying it though!

Slowly getting there and honestly I’m still really enjoying this! I’m reading it as part of a book club which is why I’m reading it slowly with the aim to finish it at the end of May. The story is often slow with a lot of the story taking place in the conversations between various people with limited ‘action’ but I don’t mind that at all. However wouldn’t recommend if you’re a plot/ action reader.

We’ve left the peaceful parlours far behind and now we’re right in the middle of the war against the French. I didn’t think I’d like the war parts but I’m actually really enjoying the increased speed and the change from peace to war and back again. I’m really loving this book so far - it could even be an unexpected 5 star! We’ll see....

So many characters and individual plot lines but I’m loving the slow story setting at the moment and getting to know all the characters. Honestly I just feel so sorry for Pierre at the moment!
