August returns home from another country where nature is completely different, for the funeral of Pop.
Words missing from the dictionary are added.
Some words have a different meaning, like yield, bend - baayanha - in their language it's the things you give to, the movement, the space between things. Sorrow, old age and pain bend and yield. In English it's the reaping, the things man can take from the land, claims.

Just love how Poppy shares his story and heritage through the words of his dictionary. A project August bus trying to track down, his manuscript can't be located, but the library books overdue are a clue and a librarian who knew what he was working on shares the serialised letter from reverend Greenleaf.
Poppy had qualities of a shaman, conversing with ancestors and time travelling. The crane symbol.
