Confession: I read a book once, non-fiction. The topic was interesting, it was well-written (I think) and I enjoyable, but it was challenging enough that I've never repeated the experience I had back then in 1991. Now I'm reading my first novel, also in French (so the title is "Le Chien Juif"). The first few pages are charming, and I'm determined to finish it, though my French is poorer now by far than it was then.
