So far in the Outsiders Johnny and Ponyboy were jumped as Cherry told the judge exactly what happened. The judge asked Darry and Soda about Dally. They were at the hospital for Dallas who was badly injured. A lot was going on in Ponyboys head since there has been a lot of violence that have influenced him. He just wants everything to go back to normal. Because of this he has been lousy in school.

So far in the Outsiders, Ponyboy is with Darry and Soda getting ready for an important event. It was a rumble between the two rival gangs the Greasers and the Soces. They were wearing suitable clothes for the rumble so they wouldn't freeze from the cold weather. They were positive that they would defeat the Soces in the event to come.

So far in the outsiders Ponyboy and Johnny were on the run and decided to hide at Dally's house. Dallas was the most toughest greaser in the entire gang with the highest criminal record out of all of them. Before Ponyboy and Johnny left, he gave them both leather coats to keep them warm on their journey. After they left they caught a train and jumped into a cargo car. They remained there until they hopped off.

In the Outsiders so far after Ponyboy got jumped, the greasers began to talk about the gang and their enemy the Socs. As they were talking Johnny asked Cherry why they aren't scared of him but their scared of Dallas. Cherry said to Johnny and Ponyboy that they were to sweet to scare anyone. She told them they looked harmless and didn't look as mean as Dally. Ponyboy gladly took it as a compliment.

At the beginning of this book the main character Pony Boy is just walking down the streets as a big truck roles up on him. A viscous gang gets out of the truck confronting Pony Boy with weapons, mainly pocket knives. Pony Boy tried to run away but the gang jumped him. Pony Boy was on the ground before he knew it as one of the gang members were about to stab him. Then a police siren was heard and everyone scattered.
