Hated it. Awful characters making awful decisions and being awful to each other. I don't recommend this, even if you're curious. There are thousands of other books to read instead.

Um. Is it completely lost on her that she just did what The Darkling did? That she's no better than he is? Oh, but it was to save a guy she loves. That makes it ok, right? The needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many ... ? I think that's how that goes ...

Also, if you don't make sure the villain is dead, you deserve him coming after you in the future.

"Promise me, Mal." His mouth set in a grim line, and a muscle twitched in his jaw. I hated doing this to him, but I had to be sure. "Promise me."
"I promise," he said hoarsely.

Does she not realize what she's making him promise? Stop and think what will happen to him if he follows through with his promise. Stop thinking about yourself for ONE MINUTE and realize that actions have consequences. Selfish brat.

I'd wanted so badly to belong somewhere, anywhere. I'd been so eager to please him, so proud to keep his secret. But I'd never bothered to question what he might really want, what his true motives might be. I'd been too busy imagining myself by his side, the savior of Ravka, most treasured, most desired, like some kind of queen. I'd made it so easy for him.
