i’m already tired of chaol and dorian always talking about celaena whenever they have a scene.

where do i begin?
celaena didn’t once think perhaps her wine could be poisoned, despite poison being a test ...
the fight was gratituously graphic, which didn’t suck except for the fact i know it’ll be used as fodder for hurt/comfort between celaena and ... someone
dorian loves her???
how does she have people wanting to protect her? she’s horrible!

shit finally got real ... then it got slow again.
celaena doesn’t deserve nehemia’s friendship. all i want to know is when this book will end?!

i have two things to say:
1. goldie is NOT a stupid name for a dog. “fleetfoot” IS.
2. “the world’s most notorious assassin” doesn’t exist in this book, bc celaena is an IDIOT.

why is it when i finally get a chaol and dorian pov, it’s about how much they love celaena? not once do i read about them in their political roles, and understand who they are outside of her. i don’t understand why we need povs of “oh i want to kiss her” “oh why won’t she look at me.” your subtext should speak for itself.
and stop saying she’s an assassin! she ISN’T.

the assassin smiled. the assassin wondered why dorian blushed. the assassin thought chaol didn’t think her pretty.
it’s getting rather tiresome to not only have celaena referred to as “the assassin” when her name or a pronoun would be fine, it’s the fact that maas focuses on little bits of detail that don’t seem important. spending a page on describing the candy the assassin got? are you serious?

the assassin
the captain of the guard
the champion
ardalan’s assassin
the crown prince
you can use their names you know — especially given celaena isn’t much of an assassin
anyway mystery is getting interesting

6 pages managed to infuriate me. they played pool, dorian pulled the old “i’ll show you how to get it in the hole” trick, she was referred to as “the assassin” at least three times, and the pov had to swap to dorian to call her “intelligent”.
my reasons to stick around: i’m halfway through, and i’m curious about the murders. i also like chaol and dorian when they’re not with celaena, and nehemia.
