I have read this series and also seen the movies more times than I could possibly count. Saying that, I have never officially recorded a rating or review for each book, and I think they deserve to be. So I have started a Harry Potter reread where I will be reviewing and rating each book as I finish them.

An interesting observation - The ghosts at Hogwarts (Nearly-Headless Nick for example) are prominent in the first book and also (albeit to a lesser extent) in Chamber of Secrets. After that, they are pretty much non-existent. It's almost as if Rowling decided they needed to go as the series progressed. I think they do make the series more juvenile and I am glad she abandoned them in the later books.
