There are some excellent analogies in this book: Recipe = genotype Flavor = phenotype The recipe (genotype) is distinct from the cake (phenotype); changes in the information (i.e. a chocolate cake recipe vs. lemon cake recipe) can give a change in the phenotype (flavor).

Vy That is a good analogy. Though I wish my actual cooking phenotypes could be more reliably predicted by the recipe genotypes, LOL!
