I am beginning to become infuriated by literary short stories and their aversion to having proper endings that actually resolve things. I'm tired of reading beautifully written stories about characters I grow to care about, and then going, "WTF? That's it!?!" at the end.

Also, I have been picking at this collection for over five years, lol! Not because they're bad—most have been very very good!—but lately I just need to be in the exact right mood and setting to read a short story. x_x

45% "Foster" by Claire Keegan: Man, that story. Very vivid and heartbreaking, doesn't shy away from emotion which is a rare thing in lit fic shorts. Damn good. Wish it went on so I could find out what happened next.

"Out of Body" by Jennifer Egan (which I now find out is an excerpt from her book A Visit From the Goon Squad) is fucking unbelievable! I need to read the rest of her book SO bad! And like, now! And like, everything else she's ever written in her entire life! :o

"A Bridge Under Water," by Tom Bisell, liked it a lot, but the ending was just a dash too vague. Love, sex, religion, a couple fighting in Rome ... what more do you need in a story? lol!

"Housewifely Arts" by Megan Mayhew Bergman - I remember liking it as I read it, but a few days later and I can hardly remember it anymore. :\
