Okay, I've got to stop talking about how Ayla and Jondalar won't f@#$ing talk to each other and solve the "problem"... My question is this: given that these people don't realize that sex = babies (other than Ayla), how would they know who the father was? In the Clan, it was assumed that the woman was pregnant with her mate's child, but how would these Mother worshippers know who was related to whom?

Wait...that's it? The mammoth hunt is over? Did I blink? They hunt, Ayla gets hurt, Ayla is saved, Jondalar and Ayla still don't reconcile, and the mammoths are just dead? Talk about disappointing! These stupid people shouldn't be called Mammoth Hunters...the Clan killed more Mammoths than these jokers.

WHAT THE F@#$, JONDALAR?!?!? YOU FINALLY GET IT?!?!?!? It only took you, what 40% of the book?!?! And NOW you FINALLY figure it out?!?! You finally understand why Ayla slept with Ranec in the first place--the reason she had been saying FROM THE VERY BEGINNING?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

I think I wore myself out last night, explaining the stupid nonplot to my sister in all its overdramatic glory (in the process, abusing a poor pillow--I am sorry, poor green pillow). I really have no feeling at all. Ayla is sought out by every single guy...and I don't care. Everyone loves Ayla upon first meeting her...and I got nothing. Even the Big Misunderstanding isn't generating a response in me.

The Mamutoi are now at the Summer Gathering. Apparently, Jondalar knows some people from his journey with his brother--must have forgotten that from last book (his parts were SO EXCITING last book).

You know the sad thing about this Big Misunderstanding? (Besides how stupid and childish it makes Ayla and Jondalar look, that is.) This story wouldn't be all that bad without it. In fact, it would hearken a lot back to the first book and there is enough conflict withOUT including Jondalar and Ayla unable to talk to each other.

I might just go mad...this stupid misunderstanding because Ayla and Jondalar are acting like stupid little children instead of adults. Actually the ENTIRE CAST are a bunch of stupid little children because NO ONE is bothering to intervene. Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the fur and put on his stupid cap??? *headdesk*

Why bother talking when you could have a good f@#$ followed by more wangsting over forcing someone when she repetitively says you didn't? I know what this book reminds me of...Twilight!! O_o

Ayla/Ranec Sex Scene #2: I can almost predict the words before I hear them. The sex scenes are SO BORING. I'm almost to the point where I would be "MEH" listening to them at work. Jondalar pitches a hissy fit about Ayla being with Ranec and instead of TALKING TO HER decides to run away. Were my caveman ancestors really this STUPID?!?!

Iset Mmmm, I'll refrain from answering that, so that I won't spoil an absolutely delicious scene from Book 6 for you.

However, it's worth mentioning that, and you'll find this out end of Book 4, beginning of Book 5, the Zelandonii recognise kinship only through their maternal line.

Oh poo...now I have to wade through 8 thousand repetitions of the Mother Song *shudders*

I could sorta get that impression, as I think Jondalar has mentioned his mother more than his father. I guess I was just wondering, how would you know if you had a half-brother or a full brother?

You know, this book is seriously lacking in Ayla contemplating sex and where babies come from. I think she's only mentioned Broud's organ once!

Iset Well, Jondalar doesn't distinguish between his full brother, Joharran, and his half-brother through his mother, Thonolan... although apparently his half-sister through his mother is a slightly different matter (don't wish to squick you out, but watch out for early Book 5 scenes). And as for his half-sister through his father... well... apparently that's an entirely different proposition altogether (watch out for squicky end of Book 4 scenes).
