Some more grand and inspiring passages in this late middle section of this fine book.

Fun middle school or high school fantasy book. Previewing for students, so I won't need to go too much further. Rich environment and the characters are drawn well. Writing is slightly whimsical and a bit sarcastic.

Magnificent writing and such a grand narrative. I'm usually bored after a few books into a series, but not this one.

Halfway in and still no discernible plot, just educated guesses on my part. Call them inferences based on the meandering threads that inevitably will intersect each other at some point.

Some beautiful, transcendent prise in this volume, on the topics of leadership, love, brotherhood, taking a long-term vision, among other things.

I'm purchasing this for my students and it's a really cool book about a young teenage girl surviving on her own during the yellow fever plague of 1793.
